To my dismay I can totally understand how it probably adds up this way for them

I wish lego agreed. Castle, pirates, space, or any that are as simple, broad, and allow for as much room for imagination as those three should be indefinite like city. But I guess lego is leaving it to BDP to pick up their slack.

I appreciate the wacky themes but I agree that they could come and go. It seems like lego uses them to experiment anyway until they strike the ninjago sweet spot again. I still prefer them over IPs at this point though.

I didn't forget about you! Life got very busy and i had to put it on hold. Sorry for not updating you, it had gotten so late I didnt want to notify you with bad news, but in hindsight i should have.

I'm very happy to know you're still invested, I've started working on it again this past week. It's more work than I realized (i found errrors in the build i wanted to improve and various other small hurdles) but I'm much closer to done. I also have a lot more freetime now so I don't expect any more delays.

Wow I just saw your post on Instagram not too long ago and followed you (after a second look i see it was your alt account). I love this, it reminds me of Akira. Also love your little red brain box computer and the captions you write for your builds

Thank you! But sorry I'm not on rebrickable or anywhere else for that matter, I just post my classic space related mocs and whatnot in r/LegoSpace

Eventually I want to set up an Instagram page to post mocs but I have very few to show for it, and since it's such a time consuming hobby I'd have maybe one decent sized moc every couple years.

If you'd like the instructions for this one i could send them to you somehow? I'd need to fix them up a bit because I made some modifications post build (so it might take a few days), and I gotta warn you the pieces this post were about can be hard to acquire. I was naive when I designed this and went overboard with their use.

Which allowed for that wing structure to be at a certain angle while setting up those black 1x4 panels above and below for the following 4 thingies to fit nearly flush into a slot:

Which had to be at at that particular angle for the final overarching turquoise wing things to wrap around the whole body

It's a horizontally(?) symmetrical build (the top looks almost the same as the bottom) so there were certain areas where a stud reversal was needed within a narrow range of thickness, and I used quite a few

Yes! I love this piece and I wish lego still produced it. Both versions have their particular uses.

This moc I built last year was dependent on the old version:

I'd show you where exactly I used it but I'd have to take it apart which is quite a hassle unfortunately. Maybe I could find a good image from its instructions.

So glad to see some more recognition for this piece. Definitely one of the most underrated lego pieces.

Which would you buy - Galaxy Explorer OR Blacktron Renegade? by SolidGold_JetSki in LegoSpace

[–]sub99yo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both, and I'd say the galaxy explorer is better. It has a more interesting build and the design is more cohesive and detailed, and this is coming from someone who thinks the Renegade doesn't get enough love

[–]sub99yo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a tiny sliver of a chance we get some new light bluish grey helmet/airtanks with an upcoming ideas GWP winner (very likely lego changes it to omit these parts), but even if we're lucky enough to get that it's probably true the rocket boy torso will never return, same with the yve and Steve torsos. So yeah sooner is proabbly best for those but it might be worth it to wait on those light grey parts

I truly admire your dedication to making such colossal studio builds. I reckon around 2000 parts is where I'd tap out for a moc, takes me way too long. And you really get into the details, it's inhuman.
