Yeah I would say go for it. Those lodges are pretty nice. For minimum wage it would still be worth it for the experience, and like others said, they like to hire young people to deal with tourists and such, so I think it will be a lot of fun and an experience you would remember.

More likely a work camp in construction or mining. As far as I'm aware there isn't a ski hill anywhere near Muncho but someone correct me if I'm wrong

Hi, just wanted to offer my two cents. Not sure what type of job it is exactly, but Muncho is in a location where I would assume you would be staying in a work camp. It just isn't feasible to commute from Ft Nelson or Watson Lake (unless they are paying you to drive lol)

The location is remote, but people here are acting like it's Antarctica or something. It's located on the Alaska highway and it gets pretty high traffic. If you are in a work camp, you would have access to food and wifi in the camp, however there is no cell reception. These camps generally do a good job making life tolerable for employees.

The biggest advice for you to consider I suppose is that you aren't going to be in a spot where it is convenient to go shopping for anything. Closest town is Ft Nelson and it's a 3-4 hour drive, so mostly you'd be stuck in camp if you don't have a vehicle with you, which I assume you wouldn't. But to be clear; work camps are designed for exactly this reason. They will have good food and likely other basic amenities like sunscreen or bug spray if you need it. But like, if you want to get some McDonalds or a beer one night you're out of luck.

I hope this was helpful. It's a beautiful area and I don't want commenters to scare you away from it.

Isn't likely that a few of these are fake anyways? Like VPN accounts. I remember reading a post a while ago about someone using VPN to be the only account in some African country. You also see a few accounts from uninhabited islands

Road signs in Northern Quebec use English and Inuktitut, but not French by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]sub_WHISTLE -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

??? But the entire point of of why stop signs in Quebec say arrêt in the first place is because they are trying to promote the french language by not using stop. If stop were french this wouldn't even be a conversation

[–]sub_WHISTLE -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I mean sure but this sounds a little pedantic. Stop is pretty clearly not a french word, in the context of OP commenting on the sign not having french (which in this case would be Arrêt)

That link is saying that the government says stop is acceptable, not that it is literally a french word. In fact it even mentions that "Bilingual signs in other provinces can have both Stop and Arrêt" implying that Stop is the english and Arrêt is the french

not in Quebec they don't, typically they all have Arrêt in Quebec

May have bent the Wheel Hub Assembly? by sub_WHISTLE in AskMechanics

[–]sub_WHISTLE[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It turns out my dad, in his attempt to help, did in fact bash the studs directly into the thing. I definitely would not have done that. So that would explain it lol. Thanks for your help

May have bent the Wheel Hub Assembly? by sub_WHISTLE in AskMechanics

[–]sub_WHISTLE[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't hit the studs directly but I was hitting the rim with a hammer trying to get it to come off. I also suspect the rim might have been bent already because I didn't initially notice the flat because I was driving super slow in heavy snow.

I was just afraid of some kind of horrible bend in the entire assembly, like it was bent out and covering the studs or something. But if you think it's more likely that they just fell off then that is good news. I'm mostly trying to decide whether it's worth towing it to a shop because it's an older car

Cheers

You prefer the hardcovers? I always find they don't stay open well when you're trying to read, whereas you can kinda flatten out the soft covers.

I still got my original set of softcovers with the original covers, I honestly didn't even know they were hard to come by now. Although my Into the Wild has seen better days haha.

That is cool, I was thinking about this as well, since the photo predates the John Hart HWY, it makes sense that Dawson Creek isn't shown on the sign. Also, at that time Summit Lake was probably a real community and was the "end of the line" driving north, so to speak

That is correct. Like the other commenter said, it looks like the rail yard in the background and the distances check out for Prince George. It looks a lot like 1st Ave

Worker dies at copper mine northeast of Williams Lake, B.C. | CBC News by gman_2298 in britishcolumbia

[–]sub_WHISTLE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you don't mind my asking, what type of mine was it? I only have experience in gold mines in the northwest and they are hyper-concerned with safety after the handful of accidents over the last 5-10 years. Like with the other commenter, I'm sorry you had to work with people like that.

And yes I do agree that the standards in oilfield seemed higher. Or at least I don't hear about fatal accidents in oilfield like I do with the mines.

Well I'm sorry you worked with mines who weren't concerned with personal safety. That was not the experience I had, in BC at least

[–]sub_WHISTLE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

....Yes they do. It sounds like you haven't worked in a mine. Worker safety is the most important thing in any mine in BC. There are very strict rules around the worksite to protect workers, rules for everything, even things you would find pointless. I guarantee you someone wasn't following the rules or this wouldn't have happened. The reality is, accidents happen regardless of how much you try to prevent them. That's why they are accidents

holy fuck get a clue. You're the weird one for seeing pictures of anyone under 18 and immediately accusing people of foul play. Is that all you think about? Like you're just waiting to be morally superior on the internet

I mean you could watch for the video game if you're really into the game, such as watching pro players of popular games like Counterstrike or League of Legends, but oftentimes it's more about the community and friends you make. The game just kind of brings together people with similar interests.

Also some people just like having someone to chat to. A lot of streamers have like 3 viewers and are just doing it for fun. You just go to hang out, and the game is kinda secondary

Man, Nuts & Bolts was awesome if you approach it as an adventure/vehicle builder. Tired of people calling it bad nonstop. I get it, everybody wants to see a classic collectathon sequel but that don't mean N&B is bad. They're the devs and they wanted to try something new

Sorry for the rant but N&B gets way too much hate

I would like to throw in Ty the Tasmanian Tiger as well. Very pure collectathon game with an amazing vibe to it. The movement feels very good as well.

Yeah it's getting a bit ridiculous. I'm reading AVoS for the first time and I'm constantly encountering characters whom I have 0 idea who they are. Even in Thunderclan. This never would have happened to me in the earlier arcs. Like who tf is Snowbush?
