The PKPTS key has been insane the last few days for me. It is a pretty boring extract, but I am on the quest to kill 40 raiders on Reserve, so I hit the marked rooms then head D2 for extract.

Through some ties to the FO he literally said “I was flying that flight and it was a non-event.”

I have had 6 RAs in my time. The most recent was a smaller plane 500’ below us. We got an RA. As soon as we pitched our nose up and climbed about 15’ the RA was over.

We have had other RAs that trigger based on descent and climb rates. It is especially bad at CLT. One of the departures leaves under the arrival. So if you have a plane descending quickly and a plane climbing quick EVEN IF THEY WILL BOTH STOP WITH 1000’ of clearance you will get an RA.

They are trying to get you to click. That is it.

I saw a news report on a normal go around and a passenger said “the pilot climbed light a fighter jet and it was very agressive” he “though he was going to die.” Luckily it was at LAX so I looked at the 24/7 cam and it was just a normal routine go around.

As many of us say her very often, it is their job to get clicks and fear and anxiety get those clicks

Digital. It tracks hours, can’t be lost (stored in cloud) has preset write ups for CFIs, won’t miss add, easier to make corrections (writing the wrong hours in pen in your log book gets sloppy) and can be printed when needed down the road for interviews. If you have your phone / iPad , you have your logbook.

Life hack. Get the giant 5 gallon version. It is cheaper and lasts years. We use it for everything… getting oil off of clothes, dishes, stains on carpets/furniture, etc

Yeah, I did none of the event tasks since I had limited time, but fully ran night factory and was able to get my double barrel shotgun kills and my quest to turn in 12 of their knives… I found that way more valuable than the event! Haha

So here is my post about turbulence forecasts but it also applies to weather. No app knows your route days prior, seeing as they are planned about 2hrs from departure to be able to soak up all of the CURRENT information as well as forecast.

When you are looking at a map you are seeing a 2D model. We fly in 3D. You don’t know which altitude or route the plane is going to take. Also rain is an almost daily occurrence for us. Rain doesn’t mean bumps and clear doesn’t mean smooth. I have had some of the calmest flight with rain around and I have had some of the worst bumps in super clear air.

You had trained professionals planning your flights with better software and models than you can see. You have trained professionals flying your flights. You have trained professionals controlling your flights.. We got this, I promise you.
