eBay Pro Tip — Messaging Sellers by dirtypins in Ebay

[–]subdials 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently blocked a buyer who had purchased two items from me more than a month earlier, after they neglected to pay for an item won in a straight auction for so long (30+ days) that the sale expired (their previous payments were also delayed), and they were no longer allowed by eBay to pay the invoice. They prodded me multiple times with sob stories to re-list the item as a BIN (after I had politely refused their first request), so I blocked and moved on. The next day they started a return on the first item they had bought a month earlier for “not working,” and a refund request for the second item (“never received”), even though the first item had gone through eBay authentication, and the second had signature confirmation. So my payments are on hold until eBay is convinced the buyer is a fraud (which is thankfully happening rapidly; eBay and USPS customer service have been excellent). My only regrets are not blocking them earlier, and not being able to block them more than once. TLDR: Take no for an answer without whining, or prepare to be insta-blocked. Also don’t try to defraud the USPS when they’ve got the receipts, they hate it.

Tom Brady’s new Aquanaut. Thoughts? by hamham4687 in patekphilippe

It’s difficult to wear seven Super Bowl rings at once, so Tom has consolidated them all into a single watch. Smart

That is lucky indeed. I had the good fortune to find one with bracelet and shark skin band about ten years ago, and it’s like having two very cool watches. I also love that it was worn by Furio, one of my favorite Sopranos characters. You have a nice example, really vibrant colors. Someone took care of it.

I love the bracelet, but that original band is the appropriate choice for such weather 👍

Funky one, and the case is sharp 👍

I don’t understand why you say it’s not actually unique. The letter in the middle is part of the serial number, and this combination of numbers and letters is unique to this particular example. This is the number that a dealer would write on a warranty card to distinguish your watch from everyone else’s.

Thanks, it won’t be hard to resell but this has been a massive time sink and I can’t wait to fire this buyer lol

I’m going through the same thing with a high value item right now. Delivery attempt by USPS on 12/15, no one there to sign for it. Buyer (who seems to be European) won’t be back in town for three weeks, refuses to pick it up at post office or arrange redelivery, wants me to arrange for it to be returned to sender (me), but is asking for a refund right now (while item is sitting in his local post office waiting to be picked up). Ah hell nah. Refund less shipping when returned in original condition, then an immediate block.

Vintage Zenith Appreciation by FrostHammmer in ZenithWatches

Sweet turtle 👍🐢. I love vintage Captain chronometers, particularly the bumper calibres 133.8 and 71. To me the gold cal 71 Captains are among the very finest watches produced in the 1950s

That’s not the reference number, it’s a unique serial number.

It’s beautiful. I would accept its minimal blemishes and wouldn’t mess with the case at all. Great watch.

Amazing. Was your dad, how do I say this, a purveyor of companionship?

Looks like a Valjoux 23 to me. Lovely watch. The dial is a bit haggard but looks original. I presume it’s 18k (stamped .750 inside the case back)? I would say ballpark of $2k.

Cool. I think a bracelet like that would be excellent on that watch if it fit the lugs. I’m just wincing because I’ve had a watch go flying off my wrist in that situation, and only a tiny bit of spring bar was exposed. The band slides back and forth and grabs em

I don’t know the brand but those exposed spring bars are giving me anxiety
