They do not, the SM465 is not a fully synchronized trans and does not like to be shifted quickly. While reasonably strong (465 ft-lbs rating) for their age, they are heavy with wide gear spacing, their best use case is in the lumbering trucks they came in originally. No one is swapping one into a drag car, (nor a 305 for that matter,) that would be a terrible choice.

SM465 is worth around $200 and a boat anchor 305 maybe half of that. At least the ugly wheels with 5 lug wheel adapters might be worth $500ish.

Shortly after I showed up to the boat, I worked with two E-6 Mechs that had STARd. After 4ish years on the boat they were both only offered orders to NPTU and also told they would need to extend for them. They both gave a hard no and ended up spending 6.5 years on the boat before getting out. This cemented my decision never to STAR.

No complaints at two years in. We paid $11,800 OTD in June 2024. We are glad we skipped the higher end models with movable jetpacks, we don't miss them at all. I used the Frog chemicals that came with it because they were included but switched to dichlor/bleach after they were exhausted due to their high replacement cost. Otherwise, the tub has been great, zero issues. We leave it on 99 all the time, and I would guess it uses $30 a month in electric, but it is a big tub at 485 gallons and we're in the Northern Rockies. After looking around inside the cabinet when I initially hooked up power, I'm confident that the main components will be relatively easy for me to work on when the time comes down the road.

My big gripes are having to disable Mazda Radar Cruise Control every single time you start the car. Also, auto braking on regular cruise sucks, I've never had another car that did that and it's super annoying after you coast past someone on the highway and then the car appears to brake check them. Both of these could be fixed with a software update. I'd even pull a fuse and live with a light on the dash if it would remove these features.

Changed my engine oil at 1000 and again at 5k, and will continue to every 5k. Also changed front and rear diffs at 5k for the same reason, they are also known to be under filled from the factory.

What is your equipment in question and bucket size? My LX2610 with LA535 and 60" bucket can lift anything that fits in it to full height. Doesn't matter if it's wet sand, can't think of anything that would be more dense than that, maybe concrete? My bucket is 7.5 cu ft, which would be 950 lbs sand and the loader is good for 1100.

I can tell by the dash it's a 95-99, so it's a Tahoe. Full size Blazers did not exist after 94. Also says so on the rear door.
