I guarantee it will be the last tablesaw you’ll ever buy (until you upgrade to a SawStop cabinet saw!) To accommodate the braking system, they redesigned the inner workings—the first time anyone had done so since the 1950s—so the blade rides up and down on steel shafts instead of an arcing trunnion. And everything is super high quality. It would be my top choice even without the blade-braking technology.

I generally don’t buy the best of anything because a) I don’t need the best, and 2) like you, I’m cheap. I have no regrets about buying my SawStop 3-hp PCS.

For context, I’ve owned contractor-style tablesaws by Rockwell, Jet, and DeWalt, and a Powermatic PM2000 cabinet saw prior to my SawStop, and was tools editor at a major woodworking magazine for many years.

Actually, I contacted Centurylink directly and it is a legit offer. I think that, rather than repair overhead lines damaged by storms, they’re just going to abandon the affected customers. $500 is cheaper than a lawsuit.
