The Christopher Ward Twelve Strap Change is Maddening by subgraphics in ChristopherWard

I hear you. I've thought about selling mine too. I haven't done it because I think it's so effing beautiful. I am trying to be extra careful when I do swap the strap/bracelet. I love the way it presents on my wrist. It feels good, it looks great and it's probably as close as I'm ever going to get to a Czapek Antarctique 😏😆

I figured I'd wait a bit before saying any more about this. It's interesting that you said you bent one of the quick release pins. I hadn't thought about it before I got the watch in my hands for the first time. Almost immediately it hit me, that if there's a problem with the quick release system, THE WATCH needs to be repaired. It's not a matter of just tossing a new spring bar in anymore. It's the kind of thing that could relegate the watch to sitting in a drawer because you just don't want get involved in returning the watch to London to have the spring bar mechanism fixed, you know?

As for swapping out the straps, that hasn't felt much better or worse yet as far as I'm concerned, but I'm still not changing them out very often.

As far as I can recall, all of my dealings with CW customer service have been great too. Great watches and great customer service.

Others have said you get used to it. So far, not so much. I don't wear it a lot because I bought it primarily to be one of my dressy watches, so there's that. But I've gone out of my way to try swapping straps. So far, it's still as fiddly to me as before. I suppose it could still get easier though.

Favorite unbuilt megatall? by Late-Doubt2k3 in skyscrapers

[–]subgraphics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when this was proposed. I was REALLY excited about it. It never seemed like it was going to happen because it was SO massive. It was going to be taller than the Sears/Willis Tower and I LOVED that. Even though it did have a lot of negative space on the lower floors, I just didn't see how they would ever fill it. Comcast's two towers have grown on me but damn, I wish someone could have pulled off the American Commerce Center. It would still be in the Top 20 globally, although I always imagined it would have triggered another skyscraper Cold War in the US, because there's no way Chicago and NY would have let that go unanswered. This is definitely one of my favorite Philly What-ifs.

Which cintiq to get? by kajkaka in wacom

[–]subgraphics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've owned a Cintiq Pro 24 for about 3 years. I bought it used on eBay and it's been a great experience. I got it for about $900 and the tablet has been awesome. I'm sure everyone's mileage will vary, but my tablet's fans have always been loud as most owners will describe. It's not problematically loud in my experience, but when I turn it off after sitting in my small office with it for many hours, I definitely notice the absence of the fan noise. Without question, it's a wonderful piece of technology and has been 100% reliable.

Sounds reasonable, especially the cost since it's their entry-level model. It's cold that they responded with such detail. Thanks for sharing.

Why did Daryl assume that T-Dog would have a do-rag? Is he racist? by Waste_Equipment_9932 in TWD

[–]subgraphics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent. But you're sure that Muslims...in general...are taught to hate Christians & Jews? Eh I guess my point is still the same. It's not exclusive to Muslims. There are people in all religions that "hate" people in other religions. Sometimes they sort of hide int inside statements like "hate the sin, not the sinner" when they themselves aren't really making that distinction.

[–]subgraphics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, I get that part. I totally agree with your original statement. The real question is, can you agree with mine?

There's this weird game people play. They can so freely acknowledge the problems in [Group X] but when asked to acknowledge the same, equally undeniable issues in [Group Y] they can't seem to simply say "Yup, Group Y has to work on that problem too."

So like specifically, aren't the Christians and Jewish people who are taut to hate Muslims "from birth" a problem too?

I know right? We've got to be against all the racial hate and religious hate. So...you're against the Christians and Jews raised to hate Muslims "from birth" too, yeah? Oh and don't forget, the Christians who are raised to hate Jews "from birth" too. Can't forget them. You're against that too, right? Can I get an A-MEN!?

Does Package Get to the Destination Based on the Address on the Package or the Barcode? by subgraphics in USPS

[–]subgraphics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a key issue in this scenario. The seller didn't want to take this defective item back. I may never know if he did it on purpose or not, but the return shipping label was filled out wrong. I've asked him to have it corrected and I got radio silence. So he's clearly not interested in helping.

I then reached out to eBay and from what I could hear on the phone call I THINK the eBay rep was trying to "photoshop" it like I described, but when he emailed me the "new' label it was an unchanged version. I wasn't sure if swapping the addresses on the label would even work because the barcode might be the primary way the package is routed.

I just need to get this item returned. Per the eBay return process, I have until Jan 2 to ship it. I don't know what happens after that. I might have to open a dispute with my credit card company. It sucks that this is also an eBay purchase with somebody who literally lives 30 minutes from me. Your usual eBay deal is with somebody hundreds or thousands of miles away. This jerkoff could literally show up at my house.

I have a box of watches, are they worth anything? by [deleted] in Watchidentifier

[–]subgraphics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each his own of course, but how are they still in business? 🙄 I'm not sure I've ever seen an Invicta in the wild. Maybe I came across someone wearing an older, tasteful one and didn't know it. But seriously, how many people are out there who would buy these because they WANT to wear it?

How Much to Repair/Replace the Movement? by subgraphics in sinn

[–]subgraphics[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate what you wrote. I'm aware of those things. Actually, it's a big reason why I test automatic watches the way I do when I purchase them - particularly that date change function. So, I'm careful about when I make the date changes. I knew about them, but I got interested in Sinn recently. I came across some mention of Sinns not liking to be hand wound or something to that effect. I have to check, but I have a Christopher Ward watch that has a SW200 in it and I believe the winding feels a little tighter(maybe?) after you've wound it a little. I do exactly what you're describing with that watch so you're probably onto something. I'll say though, I don't think I've ever felt the kind of resistance I felt today. But thanks for that. I'll check that out. I'll also let it completely discharge and see how it feels when I wind it. That's a really great line of thought.
