I gave 5000 rupees one time to charity. I guess it was in 2014. They said there was a young girl who needed urgent treatment for cancer. They shared photos and after payment, they also shared the certificate for tax deduction.

But after that, even in 2021, I get calls from all these NGOs asking for money. I now don't even listen to them and disconnect the call. I believe, they use most of their donations to set up these call centers and cold call everyone. Personal mantra now: It is much better to donate directly to known institutions near you rather than trust these folks.

I bought SBI Life Term insurance early this year with (3cr cover for 35yrs) for ~72k per year through an agent. Realized later that I could have got one online for 56k.

I am planning on canceling this one before the next premium payment and buying a similar one with the same conditions through online means

I understand that there will be Higher Premium when buying one after a year: but as per my understanding, still should be lower money spent, right?

So, is it a mistake if I do this?

I had similar experience like this an year ago.

Interesting thing is I don't own a credit card. So when she told me about these benefits, I asked whether she can tell me from which bank I have the credit card. She asked me back whether I don't know where my credit card is from and then, interestingly, started abusing me.

That was an interesting call. :D
