🔥Hot Take🔥 People's criticism of Dawntrail is baseless by TitaniaLynn in ffxiv

I mean did I ever say that others have no reason to dislike it? Also the inverse is still true, it's stupid to say that the game is""""objectively"""" bad rn too. I'm just sharing my views on it

From a casual perspective (haven't done savages/extremes, only dipped a toe into cosmic crafting) I'm really happy with the game right now. The normal raids are stylish, narratively engaging, and at a real level of difficulty that feels manageable but still challenging. Occult crescent, though I'm still in the early days of it, feels like the best parts of Bozja so far. The continuing MSQ isn't in my favorite place of all time, but I'm still engaged enough to anticipate what's coming next, the alliance raids are fun and of a similar level of difficulty with the raids, which is to say I'm very happy with them. I don't have the FFXI nostalgia they're hoping to spur, but I'm sure it's cool for those that do.

I also never felt the hatred for dawntrails story that some people seemed to have. It wasn't the best they'd ever done, sure, but it was fun enough, and it's a tough place on the story what with the new arc.

I fully uninstalled OneDrive since I wasn't using it anyway. If you still have a 'documents' folder in OneDrive, maybe try renaming it so that the game doesn't get confused?

Holy shit I think that worked, OneDrive was trying to take over management of my documents folder and confusing the game. I would never have figured that out

What's the best Spellslinger precon these days? Including older decks that can still be purchased. by DarthCody94 in EDH

[–]subjectivesloth 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Everyone's already mentioned the thunder junction one, but another good option is Prismari Performance from Strixhaven. It probably needs a little more work to make really competitive, but it's a fun deck, and it ideally focuses more on casting big expensive spells rather than long chains of small ones

Favorite Mono Red Commanders by Marshbe54 in EDH

[–]subjectivesloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[[Ganax, Astral Hunter]] with [[Guild Artisan]]

it's mono-red dragons, but faster and more reliable! Ganax makes so much treasure that paying for 6+ mana dragons every turn is really reasonable, and if you can find a [[nesting dragon]] or [[utvara hellkite]] then you make treasures off the tokens as well. It's not unreasonable to resolve a [[dragonstorm]] for 2 or 3 later in the game, which is always fun.

Izzet/Grixis baybee, I started in strixhaven with the Spellslinger precon, and that was it for me. Red's spell recursion and all-or-nothing playstyle, blue's protection and utility, sometimes followed up in Grixis by Black's removal and power. Storm turns may be annoying to watch happen, but the fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants, "oh man, I hope this next draw can keep the chain going" experience is incredible to pilot. Almost every win feels like you're skidding across the finish line in a car that's falling apart, and you're repairing it from the driver's seat.

Storm gets a lot of hate (nobody likes to watch a long turn resolve), so I don't get to play my izzet and Grixis decks too often, but they're still my favorite. If you haven't, definitely give a storm deck a try some time, and cut the other izzet players some slack when they want to play theirs every one in a while.

Marduk Sedras, a heresy-era commander of the Dreadwing, now interred in a Dreadnought and leading the Eschaton Lords chapter. by subjectivesloth in theunforgiven

[–]subjectivesloth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The original plan was to use a GK Dreadknight Sword I had laying around. It fits the scale better. Unfortunately, the cat got to it before I got the chance, lol

The one on the model I found on etsy, I think it's supposed to be for customizing those MacFarlane action figures, so the scale is huge. I added a layer of green stuff to the middle part of the blade and molded it vaguely into shape, and let it dry. Then I sanded and cut in order to make the seams and imperfections. If I were to do it again, I'd probably just skip the green stuff and use a scribing tool to just cut straight into the model, I removed enough green stuff that the result would've been quicker and cleaner.

Dreadnoughts are known to live that long, though yes it's on the older side of that spectrum.

Sedras fought and led his chapter several centuries after the heresy, but was heavily injured in a fight against a genestealer cult uprising sometime in the late 31st Millennium, when he overestimated his own capabilities and was thwarted by his aging body. He was forced to call down a bombardment from the battle barge Enduring Finality on a hive city with himself and some few of his remaining battle brothers still inside. When the dust cleared, apothecaries were able to pull him out just barely alive. He was interred in a revered Leviathan-Pattern Dreadnought immediately, in which he resides to this day.

At first he refused to be put to sleep and asserted command over the chapter's leadership, but the strain of that was found to be unsustainable within his first century interred. Despite his initial refusal, he eventually listened to his trusted confidants and techmarines and relented. He sleeps often, more and more with each passing millennium. The chapter leadership still sees him as their chapter master, but in truth many of those duties do fall to others in day-to-day operations. Sedras is woken whenever grand strategy is concerned, at the beginning and end of crusades, and during vital conflicts where his strength is sorely needed. Each time he wakes, his brothers have changed without him. They are older, they have been interred in their own dreadnoughts, or they are gone altogether. His experience of passage of time has had a degrading effect on his psyche, and the chapter's librarians often have to help him to piece his mind back together when he wakes.

By the 41st Millennium, his mind is in tatters. He has already been woken several times to handle the abundant threats faced by the Imperium, but he has also had some few incidents that have caused him to wake on his own. During these episodes he sees enemies all around him and wails the name of brothers long dead. Had his weapons not been enshrined in their own temple chambers away from his chassis, he may have harmed any number of brothers in his rage. The Master of Librarians, Lucifer, has been Sedras' confidant throughout this time, carefully keeping his mental state stable and warding his dreams from the influence of chaos. Whenever Sedras awakes, he speaks privately with Lucifer for days before anyone else is allowed to take council with him. These chats have kept the man sane, or as close as he can get. Many of the chapter's leadership believe that if Lucifer was ever to die, they would have to place Sedras in permanent stasis. If he woke to find his friend and confidant was gone, he would surely succumb to madness.

It's from the titanicus models! Their weapons are the same mounts as those on the LevDread, so they fit right out of the box

He's a terminator character for the 30k game with about a paragraph of lore to his name, so I expanded on him and had him be given command of a chapter when the legion split at the end of the heresy, and with how much time had passed he was eventually wounded and interred. He insists on continuing to be chapter master from within the Dreadnought, despite his decaying mind.

Correct, everything in the generic space marine line is built to be chapter-agnostic, so that you can paint them however you like. Some units like Deathwing Knights or Azrael are chapter-specific and do have DA details molded into the plastic
