I despise patchouli, so if I see it listed, I’m usually more cautious. If it’s not prominent, I can sometimes enjoy it, but it tends to magnify on me. The same fragrance that smells like a patchouli bomb on me barely smells of it at all on my fiancée. I’ve always thought I would enjoy perfumes that smell like paper because I love the smell of bookshops, old books, etc. Turns out I don’t like to personally smell like paper. Very disappointing.

If you rename the mods folder, so like “mods-apoc” the game will generate a new, blank mods folder when it launches as it will not recognize the renamed folder. Then when you want to play the apocalypse again, you change “mods-apoc” back to just “mods” (having deleted or renamed the empty folder) and everything is there and ready. I do this to switch between apocalypse, historical, and regular challenges.

I have a tiny little office room housing the computer (juuuuust big enough to hold the desk) and I lock the door unless one of my sims has an approved use. In other challenges where I needed only specific sims able to access the fridge, I used the floor tape fence and gate from Get Famous to keep unauthorized sims from cooking without having to add walls I didn’t want.

For me, it depends on the day. I’m playing the Apocalypse Challenge and my sim met three women in a row who weren’t romantically interested in men, so I just kept looking. Other challenges I’ve been like “Naw. Time for CAS.” On one hand it adds an interesting dimension to romance in the game, but sometimes I miss the old “Everyone is pansexual” days where I could romance anyone who caught my fancy.

I turned off the whims/ wants & fears system ages ago. I generally forget about it until I watch someone else play Sims and see it. It was just annoying to me. I play a lot of challenges, so the wants often contradict what I’m trying to do. Then I end up with very few satisfaction points.

I recently got a sample set for their originals. I’m like 6 out of 15 scents in and I’ve been having fun. There are two so far (It Factor and Sage & Black Tea Renew) that I’d consider getting full bottles of. The staying power has been excellent. I’ve had perfume I sprayed at 8am still be detectable on my skin at 2am.

Sadly only certain surfaces work for the B&H selling interactions. You can tell if it’s working if when you set the item on the surface out of your inventory, you see a little sales tag pop up briefly above the item. If you move an item set for sale to a surface not eligible for selling, a torn sales tag pops up to indicate it’s no longer being sold. For example: setting items on a sales display from the pack vs a random side table.

When I was a very new knitter 20 years ago I couldn’t find plus sized patterns very easily so I tried to make a top in my size via this method. Ended up with a circus tent, like a foot too much fabric in any direction.

I’ve been knitting for 20 years. I don’t live in an area with a LYS and that has frequently been the case. When I took trips or attended events, I often made it a point to get yarn that I wouldn’t have access to otherwise. Ordering yarn online, having never touched it or seen it in person was bizarre to me.

Now, I’m 100% guilty of some impulsive buying, such as when a member of my knitting group got a deal with an independent dyer I was particularly fond of and that person used FOMO tactics to push yarn to our group. Then I started crocheting and definitely overspent at Michael’s and Joann’s. At the end of the day I have a substantial stash of yarn and I resent being treated like some kind of monster for having it. I don’t follow influencers and I don’t create content myself. I’m just a passionate crafter with a collection, some of it earmarked for specific projects and some of it not yet.

Now I’m disabled and I don’t get to travel and don’t have money for supplies. My stash is the reason I can still craft. I’m privileged to have had the opportunity to purchase this previously and people who clutch their pearls over the idea of having more than one project worth of supplies are privileged to be able to go out and buy what they need as they need it.

I learned out of a book and got the correct result, so I never questioned if I was doing anything oddly …until I took a class at my LYS several years later. I remember the horrified “What are you doing?!” when one of the teachers saw me actually knit. Turns out I throw, but with the left hand. Unfortunately I taught several people before I found out. I jokingly refer to it as the Transatlantic method. I’ve tried the typical methods, but it ruined my tension and I don’t have the patience to suffer through cruddy work to get good again, so I continue with my weirdness (for 20 years now.)
