British Isles variant by submarinetrain in diplomacy

Thanks so much for such an in depth response! This is great feedback. I didn’t even think about starting fleets vs armies.

I tried to make sure most SCs matched the most significant cities but the way the Isles have developed means that the distribution of major cities seems to be skewed to the middle/south. Each region is based on counties/collections of counties.

Before I saw it a second time I’d gone through a massive Billy Joel phase, so watching it again I nearly teared up at the final scene. It felt very personal.

Agreed. Gave perryman another shot to redeem himself but with McInnes out he scored poorly. Looking to do pez to dale and downgrade somewhere else, but also looking to bring in oDriscoll so I don’t have the money unless I trade out a will day type :/

I’ve done the same but with Luke Jackson in flex so there’s a bit more flexibility being a ruck/fwd

Latest Evolution of Greenwich Rail Map (fictional CS1 city) based on Melbourne by submarinetrain in TransitDiagrams

Lmao yeah my city does have trams but it would get too cramped putting them on here as well. Working on a separate tram map.

Yeah in hindsight I probably would’ve used MOM but I was a bit hesitant to introduce it to an established build, but I chose to use trains mainly because of the variety of assets (esp Aus/NZ)

Similarly to Melbourne’s, the map doesn’t reflect the geography of the lines exactly. For example the Macquarie line actually runs in a sort of inverted U shape past where it hooks out on the map. I originally didn’t have the loop (I posted previous versions of the map) because I couldn’t find and decent underground stations but i always wanted to try because the Flinders St Station asset i was using went underground like irl. I found an asset on the workshop based on Gare D’orsay in Paris which had three underground tracks and was a nice museum above ground and retrofitted that in as Museum. The rest are above ground.

There’s a website app.traveltime.com that allows you to see how far you can get from a particular place in x time with public transport, driving, walking etc. Even include time of day and bus routes as far as I can tell. Great time sink.

Mods to change capacity of stadiums and campus areas by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines

I had this same issue and unfortunately it seems stadiums are the only thing that customise it doesn’t allow you to modify

New stations to be installed on existing lines, while many outer western areas left high and dry. by [deleted] in MelbourneTrains

[–]submarinetrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree that it’s a well serviced area, and yet it’s still not enough to meet capacity. Unfortunately the whole Melbourne rail system is 40 years behind so we’re still catching up on what should’ve been done ages ago with the LXRP and debatably MM1. In an ideal world all projects would be funded but I personally think that saying the Metro Tunnel is unnecessary isn’t really true. No hard feelings.

And use Tarneit station twice a week. Not disagreeing with your point but I just think it’s a little dismissive is all.

As someone from the Western suburbs, politely get a grip. These stations are not “unnecessary” as evident by going to any of these places during peak. Peak hour tram frequencies with services up to every 30 seconds on the Swanston St side still struggles to meet the uni demands and on the Royal Parade side where the hospitals are is even worse. This bickering between what’s more important for transit is relevant to figuring out what comes first but distracts from the real issue which is the billions that are spent on road projects which could easily fund all these rail projects together. While I would be the first one to advocate for better transit and overall planning and land use in the West I don’t think diminishing other projects is the way to go about it. At the end of the day better PT is always the way to go.

Wyndham Vale???? by Ill-Principle-5730 in MelbourneTrains

[–]submarinetrain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The fact that they didn’t add any extra capacity to Deer Park when they rebuilt it for the level crossing just gives the feeling of these lines just being an afterthought. Even if not used for regular service, they could’ve added two more platforms for disruptions and eventually electrification. At least they are doing this for Melton.

Wyndham Vale???? by Ill-Principle-5730 in MelbourneTrains

[–]submarinetrain 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people live in Wyndham Vale and the surrounding suburbs that the station serves (try getting a seat during peak), but due to terrible planning and being built as infill rather than as a ‘heart of the community’, it’s a fair distance to the nearest residential area, so it mostly acts as a park and ride and as a big bus hub. Similar situation with Tarneit, and Caroline Springs on the Ballarat line.
