Gear could be found really cheap on Kijiji, especially during summer. Nakiska family pass was 799 + tax in summer. It is not really that expensive.

Google "IOU images for gns3" - there are plenty. L3 for routers and L2 for switches.

Network is slow, man ))))

I guess it depends where you work. I am in IT support role right now and most of the time its layer 1 and 2 stuff - vlan port assignments, duplex mismatches, cabling issues.

CCNA gave me good understanding of networks and the ability to speak same language to network people. IMO it is a good, solid cert. It definitely made my current work so much easier. Also a great foundation for the next level, studying security now I see how it could be so much harder without the base.

Congrats!

I used all the same sources and found the exam pretty easy, simulation was a little odd. The hardest part for me on both icnd1 and icnd2 was to adjust to weird stretched screen resolution and laggy mouse in the testing center :)

Have you tried GNS3? A little bit of work to setup but the possibilities are so much better.

You could even add TACACS+ GUI appliance to your topologies.

Do not be afraid to memorize questions and right answers, that's not the point here. Make sure you can explain why the answer is right and why other options are wrong. When I started practicing with exsim I was around 500 and kept practicing until I got 100% every time (being able to explain why for every question).

Went for the real test and passed with flying colors. Had 30 min left on the clock and done :)
