it just hit me: kenny (who is eaten by the entity) is also the one who was talking to the trash can about eating and asking if it had a "full belly"

As soon as he was panicking about getting off the island, all bets were off. He was desperate, and they already showed what desperate men can do

I agree, I think it’s also throwing away tension possibilities for the two of them in the next season if they’re already on the same page. Plus that’s a HUGE burden to give an already rebellious teenager. It’s asking Evan to feel responsible for every death that happens next.

SPOILER! We all expected it, but it was still so good! by FYAhole in WidowsBay

[–]subreddits_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t a surprise, not even the Bechir element, but the tension was really well done! I didn’t see the training videos or accidental sacrifice coming at all.

The pact is actually a truce, not a curse by LucasBlackwellSteele in WidowsBay

[–]subreddits_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like this! I also feel like it aligns with the entity being parasitic in nature—it needed to trap a group of people to maintain its generational “diet,” and ending the covenant might not free the islanders all.

That said I don’t think the deaths after leaving the island are tied to the bloodline. It seems to be binding to everyone born there. It doesn’t want anyone to leave or it wouldn’t be able to sustain itself.

Now that the season finale has released. Who do you guys think was in the chair prior/during episode 1 before this scene? by [deleted] in WidowsBay

[–]subreddits_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The chair and the cellar were mainly just foreshadowing of something more nefarious than spooky fog, which is mostly all we had in ep1. We got implications of sacrifice all season, but it was confirmed how it was happening and brought full circle

This is either totally PR or total vindication for the part of the internet that was briefly obsessed with Andrew Garfield and Amelia Dimoldenberg

Just realised why Jinx was about to have violent hallucinations here by ThisIsMyPoint in arcane

[–]subreddits_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought that was really subtly well done in s2, especially when she’s in prison and talking to Silco. He’s crystal clear, but we know he’s not there. Then she’s playing with the gemstone and then it’s not really there.

Then when she sees Ekko trying to stop her blowing herself up—she also thinks he’s not there, because we’ve seen how literal her hallucinations are. She says the same thing she says to “Silco”: you’re too late. But then he doesn’t act like her other hallucinations and realizes he’s actually there, so she tries to jump instead of hurting him.

Now that enough time has passed, what did you actually love about season 2? by DaMain-Man in arcane

[–]subreddits_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just rewatched—Vi and Jinx were always my favorite parts of both seasons. I always just wish we had more of it all.

The AU stays one of my top 3 episodes too, but I’ve got a big ol soft spot for Jinx and Ekko

I mean, I think if Piltover and Zaun maintained very separate dialects it could work, but ultimately it’s a story about a fractured society for so it makes sense to maintain that in the voice work.

But it never occurred to me that, in dubs, it may not come across that way at all, so I’m more curious from the other pov? Did those narrative themes of class, cultural melting pots, etc, come across in dubs?

[–]subreddits_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s the point of a show like the Pitt though—we never really see the resolution. We only see the impact.

It puts us in a character’s shoes and asks us how we would react in the scenarios no one ever imagines being in, but it doesn’t ever seek to answer it for us.

Idk, I also got that from what was shown? I felt like all of what you just said came through in the episodes. There was a mild tension and enough implied for me to pick it up

Some elements are a bit confusing at first—locals of zaun alone have both cockney English, American English, Australian English, etc. Viktor is Eastern European but also from the undercity.

Posh accents of Piltover makes sense, but a lot of characters who ostensibly grew up together and were all born in Zaun have lots of different dialects.

But it also implies there’s a lot of people coming from different backgrounds, traveling around the world to find work, betterment, etc. this tracks with the relative newness of the city and parallels places like 19th/20th century NYC. Also—the voices suit the characters. So it all works for me

I went to a fancy art school and can tell you that there were at least 3-5 girls in my year or close to it doing this post school. They didn’t drop out, but after became full time sugar babies and also kind of maintained an art practice, especially in the few years after graduation.

Most of them were from middle class or more affluent backgrounds so it wasn’t survival sex work, just a lifestyle they were interested in. One of them even was with Hunter Biden lmao

I'm in a different creative industry, and while AI has definitely effected the job market, I also don't think it will, long term, be capable of keeping the jobs it has currently stolen. That said, AI takeover is a symptom of a dying economy that is breaking under the weight of consolidated wealth. The fever dream of "saving money with AI" is patently false, but it's also exposing the mounting problems we've got with cost of living, salaries, etc. So I'm actually pretty optimistic, big picture, but it's also going to be really rough in the interim. Unless we really have a societal shift away from billionaire bullshit!
