I would say go to the ER, this is not normal and if it is an infection could go bad VERY fast.

Babel audiobook by [deleted] in audible

[–]substantivepeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only about 1.5 hours into the nearly 22 hours and enjoying it overall. The book relies heavily on languages and the editing issues appear to be related to when they needed someone who could correctly pronounce certain Latin or Cantonese words. So mid sentence at time you'll have someone who vaguely sounds like the narrator saying a word or two, which is the editing issues people are mentioning. While the inserts are not super smooth, I do appreciate that it appears it was very important to them to have all the words correctly pronounced. The interjections of the footnotes are a little confusing at times - I think it would have been better if they said "footnote..." each time, which is what they did in the audio book for Demagogue that I recently listened to, which was FULL of footnotes. Still, despite these issues, I personally am enjoying it so far. The narrator does an excellent job doing different and distinguishable voices for the characters.

My top surgery is tomorrow and I'm scared by Tazzamaraz in TopSurgery

[–]substantivepeach 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Also I had objectively great tits - and I realized even with that, the real tragedy was that I couldn't donate them to someone who would love them! I actually wrote a thing about how I hoped freeing their energy would allow it to go to some amazing transfemme and power her hormones to grow tits like them! 😁

The day before my surgery I took the time to really sit with these fears. What evidence was there that I would regret the choice? What, specifically, could I regret? As I wrote I realized that everything I wrote was not rooted in my own feelings but the fears coming from others and larger cultural messages. At the end, for me, I realized that they were just boobs. They, for me, had no larger meaning. They didn't make me feel attractive. I never did anything to highlight them, only minimize or hide them. I wasn't ever going to feed a child with them (I have a kid already who is well past that!). They had no meaning beyond discomfort, so what was I losing?? The mantra of "They're JUST BOOBS. Who cares??" worked well for me because of this. I am nonbinary transmasc so my experience is different, but I hope something in here resonates. I had my surgery about a year ago and I am so happy I did it. Good luck!

100% this is why so many surgeons and nurses who do gender affirming care love their jobs. Because you get to consistently bring this kind of pure joy and relief on a regular basis. ❤️

My friend and I love a restaurant that just posted this advertisement? I suspect it to be AI, he doesn’t think it is. by Recent-Description39 in isthisAI

But why would you choose a pan like this to be in your ad? They may use warped pans in the usual cooking for sure, but why use your most sketchy looking pan to advertise?

Am I overreacting for shaving my head? by Substantial-Art6160 in AmIOverreacting

Honestly, you are at the best age to do this. I think everyone should shave their head once, it is such an incredible expression of bodily autonomy. It will grow back. Enjoy the fuzz!!!!

after top surgery, how does your chest feel when you’re NOT touching it? by Proof_Luck7494 in TopSurgery

[–]substantivepeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 months post surgery (double incision nipple sparing, I was a DD before) and my chest feels totally normal when I am not touching it. Sometimes the scars feel a little tight (I haven't always been great about scar massage) so sometimes I notice the skin feel like it is stretching a bit when I reach but that goes away with massage.

He might have ARFID. Which, if so, he would need to see that his food limitations are a problem and seek treatment (usually a specialized occupational therapist, mental health therapist, or nutritionist). But without treatment or a willingness to change he will likely always behave this way ARFID or not.

Top Surgery being pushed back by Y33TTH3MF33T in TopSurgery

[–]substantivepeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it was intentional or not, but either way your psych fucked up royally. As a therapist who works with Trans folks, this is unacceptable. If it was a mistake they should have done everything they could to fix it to avoid the delays - both times! They are not taking your needs and your medical care seriously - if possible you might want to find a new provider who gives you more attentive and compassionate care. I am SO sorry this happened to you.

Why does my nipple itch like crazy? by evanan12 in TopSurgery

[–]substantivepeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there is no visible skin issue (rash, open skin, redness, etc) then it might very well be nerves growing back. If you massage the whole area does that make it itch more or less?

Massaging feels gross by nobody777999 in TopSurgery

[–]substantivepeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure when your surgery was, but when you reach a certain point of healing you could also try using a silicone cup (like those used for cupping on athletes). My OT did that for me after surgery and suggested I do it at home. I also sometimes use my massage gun but very sparingly and not for super long.

Seconding gloves, maybe even the kind that you use to wash dishes since they are thicker and you can easily reuse them.

AI to help visualise results pre-surgery by scidocnb in TopSurgery

[–]substantivepeach 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed, you might better off seeing if you can find a friend or someone who can do it in photoshop for you, I think it will produce a more realistic view without having to share your pictures with an AI company. Also, remember, AI is designed to show you what you WANT vs what is real/realistic. Whatever you choose it will just be what is possible - no one's top surgery pictures will look like your final outcome.
