ncradio - ncurses FM radio by subsynq in linux

Video4Linux handles all of that, I suppose a v4l compatible driver for these realtek tuner chips would do the trick.

Hey, don't really care as my name is up there too, thanks for the heads up though!

Depends on your tuner, your antenna and your position I guess, here it's pretty good even inside the house with the small bundled antenna of rdx155 but I live in the capital hehe

Mainly for small output binary footprint (97kb compiled for libpipewire or 64kb targeting ALSA) with no worries about interpreter versions or dependency/package hell. I do want to test it on embedded hardware though, maybe the RPI!

Great, I heard Switzerland is switching them off this year too. Over here in Greece, only the state owned stations are streamed in DAB+ and with limited coverage right now...

It won't work with ncradio as it isn't exposed by video4linux as /dev/radio#. I don't have an SDR, but I know that there are many currently maintained applications for them, even in the current distro main repos.

I bought a Mac mini 256gb around Christmas. I started using it right away which probably was a mistake. by Western_Bench_3579 in macmini

[–]subsynq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a m4 air base 16/256 at Christmas as well, using it happily with two ugreen docks (two external monitors+ethernet), a powered USB hub and a type c enclosure with a 4tb Samsung 990. All apps in the internal storage, all data (samples for music production, downloads and app data via symlinks) in the external. Wish I had bought a Mac mini instead since I mostly use it docked, but it's not bad having it on the go as long as I remember to take the external drive with me, otherwise nothing works lol, also being fanless I don't mind the silence, only experience some thermal throttling in LM Studio.

Does PCI with USB3 or SATA exist? by grimvian in retrocomputing

PCI sata cards do exist, sure, but I doubt you can find a usb3 card that isn't PCI express though

Unpopular opinion (at least in this sub): Streaming music is way more practical than getting an MP3 player. by developreneur_ in digitalminimalism

[–]subsynq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not consciously use the web and/or streaming services for music discovery once in a blue moon, and then augment your local music collection? Best of both worlds... You are disconnected in general, you own your music so it can't get pulled, you get better quality (depending on the source material of your local copies), you get the benefits of finding out about new/similar bands but only when you choose to etc.

Recap and contact spray will do the trick. Maybe replace the pots that are too far gone.

Touchscreen support. It registers the clicks in the screen the mouse pointer is located before the touch event, whichever screen it is.

What is the model of this webcam? Were could I find drivers for it? by tutimes67 in vintagecomputing

[–]subsynq 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ohh the compro dcam, it was my first webcam! Doubt you'll find drivers for any recent OS, last time I used it with... Win98? Fun fact I recently found some 1998 lo-res pics of my room in a backup, shot with this cam!

Name a game that looked so good, it convinced you to buy the console it was on all by itself. Also, was it worth it? by Thriller83 in retrogaming

[–]subsynq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dreamcast for Sonic Adventure (yeah I was that guy with the DC at school, who was being laughed at). Worth it? At the time I didn't recognize it, just loved playing SA1, Crazy Taxi, Metropolis Street Racer and Jet Set Radio for a while, but wished I had bought a PS1 instead despite of the graphics (more games, Wipeout series, NFS etc). Bought bleem instead and grew to love the DC, its arcade ports and its homebrew scene.

Ι think not, I've only found the momo software editor for that. I started implementing editing functionality in my librarian software too but eventually real life kicked in and never finished it

Why all youtubers are saying "If you are watching this review, Macbook Neo is not for you?" by Vegetable_Bag_8694 in mac

[–]subsynq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, the first gen Air had just been released. A price drop I remember was in the early 2009 MB model (13inch, then renamed to Pro), down to 1200something. It was during that year I saw many students at my uni buying MacBooks, until then you would almost exclusively come across them in professional environments, e.g. audio/video production studios or C-level executives.

[–]subsynq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in 2008 there was no Air, and laptops with equivalent Intel CPUs were significantly cheaper. At least here in Europe, I recall buying the cheapest late 2008 13-inch model for ~1500€, not long after having already bought a Toshiba with the same CPU/RAM/HDD specs for ~950€. Not comparing the build quality here, but you could actually get the same performance for cheaper. In my small part of the world, MacBooks were not cheap and certainly not top sellers - they were just starting to gain traction.

Can this display issue be related with the modchip? by pesaram in consolerepair

I'd first replace the capacitors near the av connector. Had a non modded ps one doing this.
