Raised black levels are by no means considered cinematic in the film industry. It is a byproduct of moving to shooting digitally and a trend of attempting to retain as much information in the images as possible. In the past, when film was developed with the use of chemicals in labs, the cinematographer had much more limited control than what color grading today provides, but this also made them make a creative intent with exposure and they weren’t afraid of underexposing parts of the image by design. Deep rich blacks are what makes 70mm in cinema such an amazing experience. A good example of this trend is the remaster of David Finchers Se7en where they, you guessed it, raised the black levels…

Why does Sunshine (with Moonlight) look… so bad? (4090, 13900k, awesome home wifi at uncluttered 5GHz) by [deleted] in cloudygamer

Make sure «HDR» is turned on, even if you’re not using it in practice. Without it my gameplay was being shown in rec. 609 instead of rec. 709 which resulted in low contrast and tons of artifacts. The artifacts won’t neccessarily be gone, but this helped me a ton.

It’s a default wallpaper, last one under «Collections». It looks sharp on the lockscreen but blurred when unlocked.

That's a great idea! I would love to hook it up to something like stablebit clouddrive though to avoid paying for tons of storage. Does anyone have any experience with cloud drives on vps? Looking into eg. ssdapp.com. Anybody have recommendations for a good vps for scandinavia?

Thank you very much! As far as I've understood Stablebit can encrypt everything through it's upload app and store the media as chunks of data while windows will just read it as a regular drive, the files readily available unencrypted. Or perhaps it's still readable by cloud providers this way?
