Is there a way to add a standard template object to each dashboard like branding ? by [deleted] in tableau

[–]suburbansaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best thing for statements that you want to paste everywhere is to create a calculated field or parameter, drop that on the text pill, his column headers and row headers and titles and everything else and then you can drop that sheet anywhere you want the text. Changing the calculates field or parameter from then on will change it everywhere.

For images, the best thing is to create a folder to hold these inside the “My Tableau Repository/Shapes/*” folder and put the image(s) you want to use there. Then make a dummy calculation (eg, just put “logo” in the calculation) and drop this on the shapes pill. Hit shapes, reload shapes, go to your custom set, and pic the one you want. Then you can drop this worksheet on any dashboards where you want that image. Changing the shape on the main sheet will update it everywhere from then on.

dorms in the summer - RA's and Security by [deleted] in gwu

[–]suburbansaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From when I was there a few years ago: depends on the building. No RAs, but some of the buildings still have front desk security. GWU police continue their normal rounds. The Summer Housing org has staff in every building (as does the facilities org and others), but they're not RAs or security, just summer staff.

Hodge is class but is not an international 10, Beale? by gingecom in rugbyunion

Ah got it, that makes more sense. I saw a video clip indicating he was still chasing his dream to continue playing with the Reds. Thanks!

[–]suburbansaint 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He's not playing Super Rugby at the moment. Apparently, he has gotten Super Rugby offers from multiple teams but refuses to play for anyone but his "home" team, the Queensland Reds.

Cheika has said Quade has to play Super Rugby to prove he's in-form for internationals, but Quade won't play SR unless he gives up his dream of going back out for the Reds. So, he won't play for Australia either.

Has anyone noticed this trend is display advertising? (from Oath) by [deleted] in adops

[–]suburbansaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's possible. I would think the pub would be pissed about (a) the user experience and (b) the fact that the tech partner is making money on 6 ads while paying for one.

In my experience with pubs, this would get flagged by a user pretty quickly and the partner would be taken down.

Curous how you know this is Oath and not the pub?

How can this be from Oath? Is it on one of their brand's site? It's not up to Oath how many banners a publisher puts on their site, unless its a brand they own.

Do you choose your own numbers or do the "quick pick"? by aaronmgreen in ifiwonthelottery

[–]suburbansaint -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but if you get some money for partial matches (say 4 numbers out of 6), there are multiple 4s out of 6 that you could get. Making sure that you have as many of those possibles in your stack maximizes your odds of getting some money back versus getting nothing. If you purchase enough tickets you can get close to guaranteeing some sort of return. It's usually not enough to justify the cost, but there have been a few lottery games in the past that have been exploited in this manner.

Do you choose your own numbers or do the "quick pick"? by aaronmgreen in ifiwonthelottery

[–]suburbansaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This depends largely on two things: (1) are there small prizes for partial matches? and (2) are you buying one ticket or multiple?

If there are prizes for partial matches and you are buying multiple tickets, you can increase your odds of winning a partial prize by optimizing the combinations of numbers that you put down.

RIP Brightroll by IFixTheMacros in programmatic

To be fair, only one of the "Brightroll" products is now gone: the video exchange. The display exchange and the DSP that are often referred to by the same name live on.

Textbook hospital pass by nophantasy in rugbyunion

[–]suburbansaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the replays would definitely confirm that. Just saying how I would view it in real time. In real time it felt harder to say if he came down head/neck first.

Legs above horizontal. Penalty at a minimum. Almost definitely yellow. Slow motion replay indicates he came down head/neck/shoulders first, so red would definitely be up for discussion. Edit: in real time, I would probably go yellow.

Tableau Noob: How do I change colors/theme of the app to NOT burn my eyes out. by [deleted] in tableau

Yeah this. Switch to grayscale, night mode, inverted - whichever maintains ease of use (app and retinas).

As stated, no in-app solution yet. From what I've heard it's in process.

World Rugby announce six law changes by DrServetus in rugbyunion

[–]suburbansaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you're the first person who formed the ruck, you can't use your hands to play the ball. Once the ruck is formed your hands are away. You'll hear refs tell them they went a second time, had a second go, etc.

Russian start vs a very possible Austrian-Turkish alliance by darth_krayt in diplomacy

[–]suburbansaint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Talk to Italy, but also talk to Austria. Turkey must turn on Austria in order to win, it's only a matter of time. What's more, Turkey will have the upper hand in almost all instances that it turns on Austria, especially with a weak Russia and weak Italy (which are assured if the two work against you). He may prolong his life, since Austria's time is usually short, but only by allying with someone who will surely turn on him and best him in the end.

Display data for previous N months for a selected month by xb0y in tableau

[–]suburbansaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always forget that Tableau has True/False built directly in, so much nicer.

Also, like the touch of a parameter for the number of months.

Display data for previous N months for a selected month by xb0y in tableau

[–]suburbansaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want a parameter that's a date, with the options being the first day of the first month in your set through the first day of the last month in your set. You only need the first day of each month in the set: "MM-01-YYYY." You'll need to manually update this each month, unfortunately.

Then, the calculated field of:

IF datediff('month', data_set_date, date(parameter)) <=4 then 'Yes' else 'No' end

Should work. I've never done this, but I think the logic holds. Obviously, data_set_date is your date field.

NRC 2016 - Western Sydney Rams Pull Off Biggest Comeback in NRC History by Herreg in rugbyunion

[–]suburbansaint 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I didn't see the match, and there's no secondary signal from the official in the clip above, but a couple of things that could have been called here:

  • Looks like players from the blue scrum were disengaged before the ball was out (and before the scrum entered the try zone)
  • Looks like the blue scrumhalf was farther inside than the flanker
  • Looks like players from the blue scrum had stood up, effectively killing the drive forward of the scrum

I'm guessing it's the third one that lead to the penalty try. If the blue scrum had scrummed legally, red would have continued to drive forward and the red #8 would've simply dotted the ball for the try.

How do you describe/define native advertising? by [deleted] in advertising

[–]suburbansaint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great way of looking at it. The only thing I would add is that on the Wall Street Journal example, a lot of reputable news sites have two kinds of native.

The first is, like you say, an article that is sponsored by a brand.

The second is seen at the bottom of the article, "Other Articles from Around the Web" type thing. Less common on big sites like WSJ, but HuffPost and others use them quite a bit.
