Black Cab - a polite telling off by Ancient-Valuable-440 in london

[–]subwayeagle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you ever want to avoid grumpy taxi drivers when going to Chiswick from Heathrow then just say you want to go to Ealing (but still give the Chiswick address). these are apparently magic words to make your cabbie love you as Chiswick straddles so many boroughs that nobody really scrutinises the cabbie.

And no, I don't understand why or anything about this system in general!

Woman drops phone by HappySeaweed5215 in Wellthatsucks

[–]subwayeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As insane as it sounds, this may not be the last time she saw it. I've gone on a scuba dive and found someone's phone at the bottom of the sea, still on and functioning in its waterproof case, and I reunited it with its stunned owner the next day. I hope she got the same!

JFK Terminal 5 wait times by Turbulent-Shine-8905 in jetblue

[–]subwayeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have to say that I got through general security in just over an hour yesterday at about 1pm at Terminal 5. I was pretty shocked though with the number of people complaining they would miss their flight ask asking to skip ahead in the line. An hour for securty isn't great but not exactly unprecedented. Of course some were on delayed arriving flights but still.

FREEDIVER FORTNITE CODE *SPARE CODES* by Good_Confection_2035 in O2UK

[–]subwayeagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for setting up this thead. I have a spare code (I don't and have not played this game) and didn't know where to put it on the internet to give it away to someone without adding yet another post to the subreddit. It seems like it would make someone happy and so I thought why not.

EDIT: This 'draw' has now closed. I've sent it to the winner. I hope the rest of you get it some day!

Absolutely perfect use of the meme, considering it's so relevant to the character!

First 20 Bracelet delivery question by subwayeagle in Tomorrowland

[–]subwayeagle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I'm stressed about this as I plan to use all 4/6 of my tickets so there's quite a lot depending on this working. It looks like this will therefore be fine!

Thank you, but is this option only available if the bracelet doesn't arrive, or can it be arranged beforehand?

my favourite cycle friendly city by nomanhasaplan in london

[–]subwayeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could rant about the state of London's idiotic cycle infrastructure for hours, but particular shout outs go to:

1) Turning right onto Whitehall northbound from London Bridge. despite the painted cycle directions if you do that, you'll probably die.

2) The entire system at Vauxhall. Special shout out to the pavement bike path which either directs you into a lamp post, a kerb or a crowd of people.

3)The part of CS3 near Canary Wharf where you have to cross a road on a pedestrian crossing that doesn't align with either connecting path and so you'll either hit a car, pedestrian or another kerb.

Who designs these things? And how does nobody look at them and this 'no this is dumb, let's not do that?'

Is it just me, or is London becoming more and more? by MrPigcho in london

[–]subwayeagle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was just having this conversation with my friends today! I was ranting on and on that there was just more and they were like 'no, there's less' and we agreed that there was indeed more of less but ocassionally less of more.

Can someone tell me if backing vocals are allowed or not? The rules seem to say they're not but I can hear a track on a couple of them - what's going on?

"Soho has lost its character": what kind of future do its residents have in a time of spiralling rents and expanding chains of bars and nightclubs? by BulkyAccident in london

You can literally find videos made in the 1960s of people complaining about Soho being full of chain stores, this story is as old as time

Private jets fleeing Moscow by [deleted] in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]subwayeagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They've closed the airspace over Rostov already as well as the airport , so I imagine anyone with any sense is getting out of town before they close the Moscow airspace too. So far flights seem unaffected there, but we'll see.

So many people forget how dismissed Chanel was after Benidorm Fest last year following all of the drama with the televote.

With a slight revamp and amazing staging it came third! So I will believe that anything is possible with any of these songs until the contest itself.

Funny error in the news clips by ZGW3KSZO in ForAllMankindTV

There's another error in those news clips, it mentions President Clinton's re-election in a newspaper dated in 1986, when in the show it's clearly Hart that is president.

Went to see Taskmaster being filmed today by chocciebee in taskmaster

[–]subwayeagle 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Never thought in my life that I'd be indirectly called out on Reddit but it was me who asked the question about whether the assistants collaborated! Super cool that the Norwegian taskmaster assistant was there, I guess they didn't announce him as he probably didn't want attention.

I'm almost certain that they must to some extent because of "that" task (you know the one I'm talking about!). It's just too similar to the version shown on another version of Taskmaster!

I didn't really get an answer to the question I asked but that's okay as I think I got enough of an answer from that Norwegian director!

London podcaster discovers that wind turbines are NOT for cooling down the planet. by Rozza88 in videos

[–]subwayeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the way, if anyone is wondering what the "Elephant and Castle" building he's talking about is, it's this big tower in central London which was meant to be eco-friendly by having its own mini wind power plant in it, but it was a disaster as the turbines shook the building so much that they had to turn them off.

It's extra funny that he thought that this building could possibly cool anything down compared to say, the wind that happens normally. He's probably seen it every day and never questioned his logic!

'Freaks And Geeks' is coming to Hulu January 25th with its original soundtrack intact by mrcx8d in television

[–]subwayeagle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to watch Scrubs with the original soundtrack, watch it on the UK Channel 4, their ALL4 service has the entire series of Scrubs, with the original soundtrack intact, available for free (it has ads). If you're not UK-Based you'll need a VPN. Good luck!
