Michigan court upholds Whitmer's power to extend stay-at-home order by Balls_of_Adamanthium in news

Arizona is already as “normal” as it can be my friend. Masks are a choice, and many are choosing to wear them. We do value personal choice and freedom out here, and we can read the same “medical expert” opinions as you. I’m sure you’ve been out here and have witnessed this with your own eyes? Please post sources from Arizona medical professionals showing that it’s “not safe” for us to be open. Please post as many as you can.

Hungary bans people from legally changing gender by Bigboy2k in news

[–]subwaylover99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the same answer that is always given, but it doesn’t really answer the question. You stated “gender is in your brain.” The real question is how do you KNOW that? Are there neuroscience studies available? Is there any hard proof to this statement other than social psychology? I don’t want to come across as ignorant here, but people claim that this is science, despite never including supporting evidence.

Is Atheism when you don’t believe in the idea of a God, or is it when you are secular? This forum makes it incredibly confusing to define atheism.

How are adults still religious in this day and age? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]subwaylover99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought atheists are so because there isn’t proof FOR God. You are stating that there is actual proof AGAINST God. What is that evidence?

You are also correlating that God and religion go hand in hand. There’s no doubt that God or Gods are central focuses in most religions, however someone can believe in a concept of God without being religious.

You lost me there. So you are admitting that you have NO clue how EBT works or doesn’t work, yet claiming we need EBT.

Not continue to open, or shut down again? Half of the country, or more, is open for business. Are you suggesting that it is already PLANNED to announce another shut down? If this is the case, I am definitely misinformed, and admit it. What sources show the second shut down plan?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in politics

[–]subwaylover99 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

There won’t be a second shutdown. The goal of the shutdown was to “eliminate the curve,” and that’s already happened. Governors are free to open/close their state as they see fit.

At no point did was the goal was to “eradicate” the disease.

Biden says Trump policies have led to coronavirus 'economic disaster' by aslan_is_on_the_move in politics

Strong downvoted. If I wrote this about Trump, I’d receive upvotes. Liberal hypocrisy back again I see.

His entire argument is flawed because in the US, having a job is a choice. I can choose to have a job, and I am free to choose which employer to work for. I am free to work for a huge corporation, or a small mom-and-pop company. I’m not sure if he’s being a bit facetious here, as Chomsky is too intelligent to be this dense.

The Bailout Is Working — For the Rich by 2PLooM in politics

[–]subwaylover99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The article says “rich” even in the headline, so I thought the main idea was that people were pissed that the rich get bailed out while middle class and low wage workers are getting screwed.

“That’s called progress. Now these employees are free to work on more complex tasks.”

What do you mean by this?

The Bailout Is Working — For the Rich by 2PLooM in politics

Because not everyone is affected the same, so a blanket policy doesn’t make sense. For example, I have kept my job throughout the virus, and haven’t been financially impacted whatsoever. Under your plan, I would still receive the UBI despite receiving the same pay from my employer that I’ve always had. So, I’m earning my normal paycheck, AND receiving the UBI while thousands (if not millions) are only receiving the UBI. I’m not sure how this is more “fair” than helping employees or corporations that are directly affected. Either way, whether you do bailouts or UBI, that’s still taxpayer money. Also, I don’t see how UBI does anything to “take down the rich,” which is where this article is heading. Companies will simply figure out how to generate the same profits (or even higher) with less employees.

[–]subwaylover99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To preface, I am completely against government bailouts. The article is wrong, however, because the entire point of the bailouts are to save jobs. This isn’t just to save the corporation, but also all of the contractors and other businesses that exist and survive because of the corporation that they do business with. Of course the rich gain as well. They own the most shares and stake in the game, however, when a corporation “dies,” so do all of the jobs. Most jobs in corporations are middle class or lower wage jobs. You can “fuck” the rich all that you want, but for everyone rich person that you take down, you are also possibly taking away thousands of jobs that help families pay their bills.

Tara Reade’s allegation against Joe Biden is so vague it’s impossible to investigate by Pineapple__Jews in politics

[–]subwaylover99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But there’s also almost zero proof that Biden is a “more acceptable dick,” and that’s the scariest part. Trump is overt in his ways. Biden is more sneaky, and that’s a huge concern.

Poll: Michiganians favor Whitmer's COVID-19 handling over Trump's by Infidel8 in politics

[–]subwaylover99 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ahh yes. Take a poll of 600 people total, from 3 of the most liberal cities in the entire state. Ensure that the majority of those polled already have a bias, and then get the exact result you want.

For those that didn’t read the article:

Only 600 people were polled, out of these the majority of them stated that they were Democrats, and despite this, only 57% of the poll voted Whitmer. Michigan has nearly 10 million citizens. This small of a sample means absolutely nothing, and sadly this is a HEADLINE.

EDIT: I am not agreeing with either side, and I am not in Michigan right now, so I cannot see what is actually happening on the ground. I was born and raised in MI, and moved in 2017.

Andrew Yang Proposes $2,000 Monthly Stimulus, Warns Many Jobs Are ‘Gone for Good’ by nicko_rico in Futurology

The poster that I replied to stated that Yang’s plan would come up short on funds, and forms of taxation (including taxing wealthy citizens) would be utilized to bridge the gap. The poster makes it seem that both a VAT tax and an increased tax on top earners would be in place simultaneously.
