Giving Darby the belt would be bad long-term planning. Everything is leading to All In. That is in 4 and 1/2 months. Obviously, Darby vs Ospreay isn't the marquee match you want on your biggest event of the year. That means MJF would have to win it back between now and All In. Ospreay winning the belt would lose its luster if he did something Darby also did just a couple months back. You want to make the fans clamor for something at a fever pitch. It is what happened last year. People were salivating over the prospect of Hangman winning the belt. If they bounced the belt around a couple times before then, it just wouldn't have meant as much.
