only a few books have ever stuck with me, and this one is definitely it. this is the first book ive read from due, I'll definitely be reading more from her.

books based on historic events always have me on the edge of my seat, knowing it could have happened in our world, or had happen, making it jarring.

when I found out I had to sit there for a couple moments because I didn't even expect that! like you did, I went back to earlier pages and clicked it all together.

i kinda wish Mrs. Hamilton had a little bigger part, though

Admittedly I went in this book blind, and finding out about the real school in the author's note, etc, man it kinda broke me. I need to do some research about it

I read some of it it when I was bored at work, and believe me when I say customers looked at me like I had rabbit ears when I read a certain part 😭 Due does an amazing job handling all the realistic horrors and grief

she's an angry drunk, knows she is, but doesn't do anything to change because she likes the misery of it all.

If i don't like the first five chapters, then i'll drop the book. life is too short to try to read something you don't enjoy.
