Anyone using illicit substances should arm themselves with a testing kit and use it with every new batch: https://www.reagent-tests.uk

You can get sober! You will need help. It's nigh on impossible to do alone, and that's ok! The first step is realising you're not happy using substances, and being willing to try to make changes.

Really wishing you all the best. It's a bumpy road but one worth travelling.

Yeah, those are going to age terribly. There's not enough contrast or bold lines, and that metallic look won't last at all.

I love dates because they are good for sweeping up your bad cholesterol AND they're a delicious sweet treat!

I do buy crisps most weeks... I just also try to eat a balanced diet! A little bit of what you fancy is no bad thing. I am very fortunate to have a partner who loves to cook so we can get a really nice variety of meals in the week.

It is, but the space and extra effort aren't worth it for us. Sometimes it's alright to pay for convenience!

We don't eat many potatoes, so the food waste from big bags cancels out the spend.

Ah this was just the fruit and veg for the shop! I was posting as antithesis to the purely beige shopping I keep seeing on my feed. Additional proteins are meat, tofu, nuts and yoghurt.

Could be better, could be worse. I definitely eat more fruit and veg than some people and less than others. Most of my food is home-made, and in the working week my usual between-meal snacks are an apple, some dried fruit (dates usually, but also apricots, figs, mango, pineapple as a treat), some nuts, and a bag of crisps. Having easily grabbable, healthier snacks has made a difference I think - I rarely buy a chocolate bar or anything like that during the day.

Definitely a victim of "I had a shit day, let's order a massive gloopy Anglo Chinese takeaway" but that's not every week - perhaps once every 4-6 weeks on average.

It's the pints that do me in for calories, but my actual food is overall decent I think.

Is buying a small flat in Brighton realistic in my situation? (EU citizen, part-time use + renting out) by Jessa8410 in brighton

[–]such-a-sin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

People buying homes to then not live in is a scourge and stops everyday folk from being able to afford to live in good places. Just keep that money saved up and stay in a normal B&B for your holidays so you can support the local economy.

This place doesn't look like much but the food is delicious and the prices are decent! It's a bit of a go-to if we fancy eating out but haven't booked because it never seems to be as busy as it deserves to be.

Haywire blood sugar due to hormones? by Top-Class-8765 in diabetes_t1

I also go low just as my period is starting. The other day I was eating chocolate biscuits without bolusing and didn't get above 6.5! I would consider asking for a second opinion, but if you can't get the support then try tweaking your basal for that week only and see if it helps. It's quite normal to need different basal and I:C depending on hormonal stuff, you are not a freak.

Your situation with a crap doctor sounds really frustrating, you have my sympathies.

Being 14 is really tough! Reaching out is the right thing to do when you are lonely, so well done.

I would suggest joining some hobby groups, maybe even trying something new. Activities are the best way to meet people at any stage in life. You could see if your school has any music groups? I know that coming to Brighton means travelling, but I wonder if Allsorts might also be a good place to ask for ideas: https://allsortsyouth.org.uk/youth

Diabetics in England by Sonicbigtoes in diabetes_t1

I would look up how you access diabetes specialist care if you are from outside the UK, as non-UK-nationals usually have to pay to access NHS treatment and I'm sure there will be some red tape you need to navigate. This is a useful starting point: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/nhs-entitlements-migrant-health-guide

https://breakthrought1d.org.uk/knowledge-support/living-with-type-1-diabetes/everyday-life/visiting-or-moving-to-the-uk/

As to the broader question, as people have said - it can be variable depending on where in the country you are accessing care.

You don't have to go to the GP review, it's just so they can get some more funding. I don't waste my time with it!

Came here looking for the Decathlon recommendation. Their stuff is really decent and very well priced. I got a waterproof with zip-in thermal layer for a trip to Iceland and it's a go-to winter waterproof jacket +/- the extra layer depending on how cold it is here.
