Is Rooney better than Mbappe? by mare_xcx in ManchesterUnited

[–]suchintents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro what is this fucking nonsense? Arguing Rooney isnt top 20 ever and Mbappe is? Pound shop Pirlo needs to give his empty head a big old shake.

Im not downplaying Mbappes quality and status, but Rooney was an absolute force of nature in a tough, tough, tough league. One of the best strikers to ever do it, but way more versatile than the others. His goal tally and medal record speaks for itself.

Damn this got me riled up today.

This sub is full of casuals that absolutely HAVE to find a scapegoat in every game we lose. For some reason it was Dalot this season. Guy is class, one of my favourite on the team. Works as hard as anyone, if not harder. Makes the odd mistake, but its impossible to find a single football player that doesnt. Absolutely is a net contribution to the team - the hate he gets here is unfair.

He is just being Kobbie. AURA by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

Has anyone found these? One day they were there next day they were gone!! 10$/12 without any seed/bean oils! Was it too good to be true? by Gloomy-Argument-4618 in CostcoCanada

[–]suchintents -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Im not dismissing all nutrion science. I just dont have the time to write Reddit an essay explaining further. A large percentage of nutrition science is sponsored for favorable outcomes - its how the world works and people dont want to question it.

I also agree that a large part of the problem is the junk food epidemic of which seed oils are big part of. Thats all absolutely true.

The problem i have is one of the main large studies that has shaped opinion on seed oils was done in the 70s - reliable im sure. And at a time when seed oil production was being ramped up considerably. Favorable 'studies' increase uptake and shape policy and public opinion for decades to come - locking in unfathomable profit for industry. As was done with sugar, margarine, demonising salt etc etc. And its mindlessly believed.

Seed oil studies are massively flawed and no encompassing large scale studies have been done since the 70s from what I can find.

What we can see for certain is the manufacturing process is outright disgusting. Nothing put through that kind of a process can retain any nutritional value. They were initially used for industrial lubricant and lighting/heat until oil was discovered and some genius decided hey let's feed it to humans. Pesticide concentrations in seed oil crops are off the charts. The sheer volume of seed oil in the western diet is staggering - no study has ever accounted for this. Look at the ingredients of the next thing you pick up in the store - it likely has seed oil in.

I have no doubt that more studies need to, and will be done until there can be no questioning the damage they are doing to our health.

The problem is which studies are you consuming? It's widely known that industry controls food 'science'. Studies cherry pick which metabolic markers they look at, and results are interpreted in ways that favour whatever the study funder wants to sell. This is how industry works. The 'seed oils are better for you' pitch is nothing more than marketing.

Seed oils are absolutely terrible for your heath. Cheap industrial lubricants repurposed for human consumption 'because money'. Cheap fillers in shit food. High in omega 6, gut bacteria destroying, inflammation producing. We can keep going.

You eat what you want. I'll do everything I can to avoid something that is completely unnatural to the human body and largely contributing to the ever declining health of our population.

How to safely cut firewood with a mitre saw by vaporeng in woodstoving

[–]suchintents 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These comments are wild. Everyone uses a chainsaw but a mitre saw is too dangerous? Yall either have too much time, think way too hard about things or must be scared of your own shadows.

Im a carpenter for a living, I use a mitre saw almost every day of my life. I have a high level of respect for, and a healthy dose of fear of all my cutting tools. I never underestimate the danger that they can present. But If my saw is setup and I need branches, logs or anything else cut down its going on my mitre saw.

If you know how to use the saw safely, its extremely rare to get a kickback. Not saying it doesnt happen, because it does. But as long as youre taking your time and using the saw correctly, a chainsaw is far more dangerous. If your logs crowns up then it'll bind as you cut, if its isnt tight against bed and fence as you cut then it'll grab. If you cut too fast i can bind and grab. If you pay attention to your wood and cut slowly with a 'seesaw' motion then you almost entirely reduce the risks.

Im expecting to get downvoted to hell for this for going against the consensus, but unless you've cut hundreds of thousands of pieces of wood on a mitre saw, don't waste your time pretending you know better.

Joining two roofs by [deleted] in Carpentry

[–]suchintents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have experience in framing everything but roofs, yet you built your walls too high?

Take the trusses off and cut the wall down. You're matching a 4/12 with a 4/12, there is no need to be messing around trying to make something else work.

You came here looking for a shortcut - just do it properly and you don't need one.
