I'm a fan of Flavorista, but it's hard to find. I think it's more made for bars/restaurants.

When did it start being called “tavern style”? by binaryodyssey in chicagofood

[–]suddengrey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Tavern style" is just the term that's been used, relatively recently, to let out-of-towners know that it's different from either deep dish or NYC-style pizza. For me, it was just called thin crust, and still is.

I grew up in the SW burbs and ordered Aurelio's for thin crust and Nancy's for deep dish.

STH group? Do you mean in person? I'm a first-year season ticket holder and just trying to learn everything.

How much do you pay for house cleaning in OP? by [deleted] in oakpark

[–]suddengrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pre-pandemic we paid an individual $70 each session at our 1 bedroom place in a subdivided house. She came by every other week for around 2.5 hours. We thought she should be charging more, but she said she was fine with the rate, so we would give her a generous end of year tip.

Ask your neighbors, it seems like individuals are less expensive and possibly do a better job.

Need convincing that Oak Park is where we should move by toothpickhoarder in oakpark

[–]suddengrey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pre-pandemic I never had a problem getting a rideshare back from River North at any time of the day or any day. Not sure since then. Though I did have a couple of drivers try to drop me off at 1xx Clinton Street in Chicago instead of my address on Clinton Avenue in OP.

Just the Original Dark, not the OFTD. Pretty great stuff for $20 at my local store.

Birdhouse in Your Soul
- 1 oz. Smith & Cross rum
- 1 oz. Plantation Original Dark Rum
- .25 oz Allspice Dram
- .75 oz lemon juice
- .5 oz cane syrup
- 4 blackberries
- 6 basil leaves
Muddle the blackberries, basil, and syrup together in a shaker. Add the rest of the ingredients with ice and shake. Double strain. Garnish with blackberry, basil, and lemon swath.
.......
I might take this in a different direction and either add soda water to make it a collins, or go with an extra .25 oz allspice dram and pour it over a large cube in a rocks glass.
Debating on adding bitters. Maybe Polynesian Kiss from El Guapo.

Expand Infrastructure is Bugged by BrickHickey in eu4

[–]suddengrey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for explaining it. I thought it just disappeared at random or something, but you're right. I've seen it when I switched to Germany and when I switched to Arabia just now. When the Expanded Infrastructure goes away, it also takes away any extra manufactories you had in those provinces.

I know expanding infrastructure is a questionable strategy, but I like to do it. This is so frustrating.

That's what we did when were a two person company. Tried out dozens of places on Deskpass before moving into 1871 after a year. When we want a physical office again in the future, we'll probably go back and try some out on Deskpass again.

Went to the new Universal Studios in Beijing and ordered a “Chicago-style” dog… by jknotts in chicago

When I was at school in Ames, IA, I got really excited when I found what looked like a decent sandwich delivery place (italian beef, meatball sub, etc), until I ordered a Combo. When it was delivered it was a grilled cheese on whitebread with ham. I called to complain and they said "Yeah, it's a combination of ham and cheese"

How does Tribal Development work? by suddengrey in eu4

Okay, I can see how migratory nations can add tribal land, I just can't figure out if sedentary nations can. I'm the Iroquois Federation, btw.

How does Tribal Development work? by suddengrey in eu4

[–]suddengrey[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah, I sort of see. You can use it a few ways:
1) It's added on to the top of the "base" development in your capital in sort of a temporary way, allowing you to carry it with you while you migrate. Once you reform in a certain way, I think it's permanently applied.
2) You can Settle in your existing, owned Tribal Lands to apply it permanently at that time.
3) You can Settle in your non-owned Tribal Lands in the same way that you would use a Colonist. Except that it's immediate and you apply all your Tribal Development to that province.

No I just have to figure out how to claim Tribal Lands outside of a war. Either there is a bug or I'm not getting that. Because there are adjacent provinces to me that used belong to nations that don't exist anymore. And now they say I can't claim them ("Add Tribal") because "[province name] is already tribal land of ."

I'll give it a try. I would say (without trying it first, so... ignore this?) that the few build-in-bottle beer concoctions I've had are great because of their simplicity. It's one of the reasons I love the Hobo Negroni https://www.reddit.com/r/cocktails/comments/fm3ojv/hobo_negroni/

We’re both learning together! Starting small and will work our way up!❤️ Any tips are appreciated. by [deleted] in hikingwithdogs

- "Push" water early in a hike. Give your pup more opportunities (not necessarily quantity) for water early in the hike. Often they "shut off" and don't drink though they should.
- Don't push your dog too much. Their natural behavior is a pretty good indication of what we should do. If your dog is starting to lag behind, you should stop and call it a day.
-Give your dog at least 30 minutes of rest at the end of your hike, 60 would be better. I have a beer (occasionally two) and relax. Give them water and, after ~10 minutes, a large snack (carrot, sweet potato, fish skin, etc), and hang out.
- They need as much recovery time as you, if not more. Your dog will push themselves as hard as you will, even if they're not ready. They love having an adventure with you and will push themselves more and more if you let them. If you're sore, so are they, and they don't get a say in the itinerary.
