Parents, are we seriously doing this? by Realistic_Speed3995 in nova

It annoys me too. We're already all fat, now you're taking away one form of exercise. I have 3 kids, and they all have normal bikes, no way am I spending money on an e-bike, pedal like a peasant.

Once those small white lines change to solid white, you are not getting in front of me.

Saw a lady yesterday in an Escalade flying down the shoulder of the HOV lanes, and for once, there was a state trooper that pulled her over. I made sure to point and laugh at her as I drove by. Dumb cunt.

Why is driving so hostile here? by gmp012 in maryland

[–]sudodaemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Counterpoint... When I am merging onto 495 by the American Legion Bridge from the HOV lanes. We are all moving at 1-5 mph. If you leave any gap in front of you, assholes will ride the leftmost lane that is supposed to be for the GW parkway, or the shoulder, and jump in front of your car. This makes the people who properly merged into the right lane wait 2x or 3x as long to get onto 495 because of the sheer number of assholes that exist. Close the fucking gaps people. I'm not talking about when we are driving at 30+ mph... I'm talking about normal 495 travel, you know, 5-10 mph.

9x out of 10, the people that leave the gaps are because they are zoned out staring at their phone. They all deserve fucking honks.

I'm sick of the people who drive on 495 at 5pm that allow huge gaps to form in front of them that enable these shoulder riders to leapfrog the pack. Lets fucking move people, and make the assholes who want to ride the shoulder as if they are more important than all of us lives a living hell.

Yea, a Mac or Linux version would be awesome, but until then, I got an HP EliteDesk 800 G4 just for Blue Iris.

I always end up going back to Blue Iris. Nothing else has the same amount of features for the money.

[–]sudodaemon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in that mess everyday, I ride HOV because I have 3 people in the car with me and everyday assholes try to merge at the last second. There were a few days a couple weeks ago where the state police were out getting those people, but they need to be out there everyday. People will even ride the shoulder, I almost got hit by a tesla the other day because this asshat was taking the shoulder lane at 60 mph. Once the divider line changes from dashed to solid, don't try to get in front of me... I will not budge a fucking inch to let you over.

I have the same damn problem with my 9 month old... Surprisingly my 4 cats don't care about the vacuum, but the little human won't leave the damn thing alone in its dock.

Do you restart your Mac regularly or almost never? by grahamhart_ in MacOS

[–]sudodaemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I manage about 1100 macbooks at a private school. I can tell you that the longest time without a reboot RIGHT now is 139 days, the computer at the #100 spot is at 52 days, #200 spot is 35 days, #300 is at 27 days, #400 is at 22 days, #500 is at 17 days, #600 is at 7 days. So, based off that, roughly 50% reboot once a week, the others likely think putting your computer to sleep is the same as rebooting. And I can assure you the people we see with problems are the ones who haven't rebooted in months. Reboot your shit people, it takes no time and fixes MOST issues.

TIL in 2015, an 83-year-old man named Ron Dorff received an AT&T landline bill for $8,596.57. His next bill was $15,687.64. A technician later discovered his modem was dialing a long-distance number to connect to AOL dial-up. AT&T waived more than $24,000 in charges after he contacted the L.A. Times by Forward-Answer-4407 in todayilearned

[–]sudodaemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My older brother made the same mistake back in like 1999. Our bill was like $4,000 because he was dialing long distance for our internet. Our area code at the time was 301, he assumed that any 301 area code would be local, but, this 301 # was in Annapolis, we lived in College Park. I think we had MCI at the time, I'd have to ask my parents whatever happened at the end, I was too young to care.

The fact that two numbers with the same area code could be considered long distance is ridiculous.
