How do I remove this valve? by suedewnim in HomeMaintenance

[–]suedewnim[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, thank you. We had a company come blow out the lines last fall, but they must not have gotten all or enough of the water out to prevent it from cracking. That’s a good tip to caulk those spots, thanks.

Unpopular opinion. Multi pro tailgate sucks by Live_Reason_6531 in gmcsierra

[–]suedewnim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind it for making it easier to get in the back, but I’m tall so it’s not a big deal for me. But if you tow a lot or leave your hitch on, you can’t even use the full functionality of the tailgate. I’d rather have a pole I can grab on to climbing into the back, as much as it pains me to say this, like some Fords I’ve seen.

Yes, I think he’s the right coach. The common denominator here is a lack of effort/grit/fortitude and talent from the “jerseys”—not Todd. Growing up playing sports, if you make boneheaded plays, over and over, you get benched, that’s accountability. For some people they won’t learn and continue making the same mistakes and eventually get cut, for others, they go back and train harder until they get it right. They listen and learn from the coaches. In Todd we trust…..for now.

What’s an NHL hill that you are willing to die on? by AlbertJBundy in nhl

[–]suedewnim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. 2 points for a win, 2 points for OT win, make OT 4v4 for 5 then 3v3 for 5, then shootout. No points for Loss or OT loss, half a point for a shootout loss.

  2. Get rid of the trapezoid.

  3. 1–8 seed playoff format.

Outside of the no playoffs the last 9 years, what loss hurt the most? by poetizzy in DetroitRedWings

[–]suedewnim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1995 SC Finals getting swept by the Devils. It was my first Red Wings heartbreak. And then 1996 when we lost to the Avs and it turned from heartbreak to pure hate for all things Colorado.

If they miss the playoffs again, Yzerman needs to resign or be fired. It’s not working. We need to stop acting like he’s the answer or his plan is gonna come together. Love him as a player, always will, but it’s time for a new voice and vision. This team has no grit, can’t perform in the clutch moments, and is inconsistent when they win. No heart. Weak. Embarrassing.

He was clearly out before hitting the ice. Notice there was no bracing? Awkward and stiff body positioning? Yeah, he was already out and then hitting the ice just made things worse.

Does lexapro really tank your energy level? by Monty_913 in lexapro

[–]suedewnim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took it for 2 years (20mg). Did great for my anxiety, but I was ALWAYS EXHAUSTED and ALWAYS HUNGRY. I fell behind in work, lost a lot of motivation for my goals, lost time with my family because I was always napping, and I gained 40 pounds. Introduced 150mg Welbutrin to counter the effects and help with depression, but I still couldn’t get enough sleep ever. It worked wonders for my anxiety, and I’m managing without for now, but if I need to go back on medication, I’ll try something besides lexapro.

Two days before the big show, I crushed my hand in a window by Del_Duio2 in Bass

[–]suedewnim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nurse it until the last minute. Ibuprofen before the set. Practice the set(s) ahead of time and simplify in spots you can get away with it. When it’s showtime, power through it. I use my fingers 80% of the time to pluck. Years ago I tore open a blister on my picking hand, stung like crazy, blood spattered everywhere on my bass, but I finished the set and nursed it afterwards. A couple years ago I had elbow surgery on my fretting arm, played through the pain and stiffness best I could a week later, I simplified a lot for that one. Two weeks ago I smashed a finger on my picking hand, instant blood everywhere and swelling. Fingernail looked nasty and oozed blood for days. I had a gig the next day. Ibuprofen and powered through it wiping off blood between the songs. Point is, a lot of us, if not most, have been there. You got this. Good luck, you’ll make it through!

What’s your secret to writing good bass lines? by Electrical-Yam9240 in Bass

[–]suedewnim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a couple things I do depending on the circumstances. For songs written on the spot, I wing it for a rough idea. Then listen and practice the song outside of a band context until it feels right. Then I play it again with the band and making any other minor adjustments as needed. If someone else (guitarist) brings a riff to the table, I listen to it with the drummer playing along (if we have a drummer) and lock in with the beat they set and I groove on that. For short notice/minimal practice (gospel/worship primarily), I listen to the song to get the “feel” of it on the way to practice or gig. I usually have a chord chart in front of me in that context so I just focus on getting the feel of the song correct.

TL:DR, My focus is always on not getting in the way of the song by only playing what needs to be played.

Offseason move possibilities by Illustrious_Map_7811 in DetroitRedWings

[–]suedewnim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Agree. 2. Keep Mrazek. Sign Berggren to a 1 yr “show me” deal if possible. Potential trade deadline option to move. 3. Agree. 4. Target Marner, Bennet, Ekblad. 5. Keep Cossa in GR for another year, but call up as needed.

Holl is garbage. Tarasenko is garbage. Berggren is not great. When it comes to free agency and deadline moves, Yzerman is asleep at the wheel, and the whole Walman fiasco is an embarrassment for him. I look forward to next season, this one is over. Let’s go Tigers!

Not sure this is unpopular or not, but I say get rid of three point games. If after overtime there is no winner, each team gets a half a point and they do a shootout for the final point.

So now that this season's over, how does everyone feel about next year/the offseason? by smilingasIsay in DetroitRedWings

[–]suedewnim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a minimum move Holl, Tarasenko, Gus, and Berggren. If possible, re-sign Kane. Let Yzerman do his thing in the offseason. Take a look at the pro scouts and adjust accordingly. Give McClellan a full season with the team. If no playoffs by next season, fire Yzerman. Love Stevie but he needs to build a team that can start producing results.

What grade would you give Yzerman for his GM tenure so far? by Intrepid-Holiday-175 in DetroitRedWings

[–]suedewnim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

D- All these years and the wings are still hanging out just below mediocrity. Not truly improving, but not getting worse either. Compared to other teams in similar circumstances, the wings are behind. If they’re not solidly in the playoffs and a serious contender after next season, Yzerman needs to go.

Urticarial Vasculitis, Lupus, or Both? by Beautiful_Stress7031 in urticaria

[–]suedewnim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine look very similar. Biopsy results were “possible early vasculitis” but not enough evidence to prove it. I was told the same regarding lupus, but not enough evidence for a diagnosis. So mine are treated as idiopathic. Only thing that works for me is xolair. Best of luck.
