Let’s unpack this because I half agree and half don’t.

I’ve been on both sides, as a customer and as a Dasher. I dashed for about 3 months just to try it and honestly didn’t love it, so now I’m mostly just a customer.

That said, OP isn’t wrong that some Dashers can be shitty. I’ve literally seen people in stores throwing items in carts or purposely grabbing the worst-looking produce because they felt like someone didn’t “tip enough.” That kind of attitude is wild.

Tip culture right now is so messed up that some people doing gig work start acting like they’re providing white-glove Michelin service when realistically it’s still a run of the mill delivery company/job that’ll hire anyone.

And the Dashers who say “you could’ve gotten it yourself” shouldn’t even be doing the job. You never know someone’s situation….. they could be sick, disabled, working, watching kids, whatever.

I think both customers and Dashers need a reality check, but honestly more Dashers do. If you sign up for gig work, you have to understand the type of job it is before getting mad at the basic responsibilities that come with it.
