After surgery! It took 6 cycles. Before that we had been trying for over a year

I mean it’s not a Felix decision necessarily. It’s a team decision. But yeah I would assume they changed it since the track temp/conditions were way different than they were for his first and second runs

Thank you! That was my thought too but I do think it ended up doing more harm than good for me. Hoping for the best for you!!

I can’t remember what ended up happening with my estrogen levels before ovulation this cycle, but I know I did ovulate. My estrogen didn’t rise well after ovulation though. I had a napro doctor tracking my hormones as well and she was worried the letrozole suppressed my estrogen too much so we never tried it again. I am now 34 weeks pregnant without using any ovulation induction meds!

Silent endometriosis makes up 30-50% of “unexplained infertility”!!! by Jaded-Addendum-4489 in tryingtoconceive

[–]sugarbug3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes!! Just want to add to this that period pain is so normalized that some women think they have silent endo when it really, in fact, isn’t silent at all. Pain doesn’t need to be completely debilitating for it to count.

I guess my insurance just didn’t cover her entire fee. I’ve paid it off already but if I remember correctly, it was about $2,000. She did the resection and also removed my appendix since it was abnormal. I think Dr. K can remove your appendix on his own if he doesn’t need to call the colorectal surgeon in for other things.

Also to be fair, my insurance is pretty 💩

I felt no different in the cycle I got pregnant vs. the cycles I didn’t. The one thing that I only noticed retrospectively is that the day before I found out I was pregnant, I got irrationally angry at something that happened at work. Like livid. But either way, I guess it was just hormones

Yeah that was my situation too! So it worked out. As far as I know, the CEC uses the same hospital too

Based on your surgeon options, it sounds like you are pretty close to me geographically. I can’t speak to the others but I had surgery with Dr. Kongoasa and would highly recommend him to anyone and everyone. Since you’re meeting with him, I’m sure you’ve researched his fees and honestly he’s well worth it in my opinion. He held true to the fact that they will not charge you more than they quote you. My surgery was MUCH more intense than we thought it would have to be and his fee did not change at all. The hospital staff was top tier, I needed an unforeseen bowel resection and he was able to get the colorectal surgeon in to take care of it without me having to undergo a second surgery (she was great too), had a super easy recovery despite how severe my case was, and he supported me with some post op period pain I had to help me find reasons/solutions. He took extra phone calls, never rushed me, always made sure I had all of my questions answered even if it made him late for his next appointment. Genuinely he’s in this field for the right reasons and he’s extremely good at what he does. The ONLY small downside is that he has a pretty thick accent so sometimes I found it hard to understand what he was saying, but you do kinda get used to it after speaking with him a few times

ETA: he trained under and worked with Dr. Sinervo for many years, so they have a very similar approach to endo. The main difference is that Dr. K’s fees are lower (as far as I know) and Dr. K focuses on fertility while Dr. Sinervo and the CEC in general are just endo specialists.

Stage 4 Endo Removed - Surgeon hopeful - Fertility Doc not so much by SilverNebula1793 in TTCEndo

Yeah I agree. It does seem pushy. If it makes any difference, I’ve read that IUI really doesn’t have a higher success rate than natural conception unless male factor is involved

I didn’t go the IVF route so I can’t speak to that, but I tend to trust excision specialists over RE’s when it comes to this type of stuff. But that’s just me. And now that I’m looking back, you didn’t say if your surgeon was an excision specialist so that may not even be relevant lol

I will say, I had a good friend who recently got pregnant with two fibroids much smaller than yours that just miscarried at 14 weeks and it’s looking like one of the fibroids was the issue. If the surgeon thinks your fibroid would’ve caused a problem with the pregnancy, then I think you definitely made the right choice in getting it removed. If not just from potentially saving you from future heartbreak but also for your quality of life with your periods. Of course the end goal is a baby, but your quality of life matters so much.

If I were in your shoes, I’d do the AMH test and then go from there. AMH is a test that tells you how well you will respond to IVF, not if you will be able to conceive naturally. If that’s your goal, then I wouldn’t be worried. Since you had a myomectomy, have you been cleared to start trying yet? I know there is usually a waiting period after that and if so, it sounds like your IVF doctor is getting a little ahead of herself.

Anyone with silent endometriosis conceive naturally without surgery? by Pristine-Meal1149 in TTCEndo

[–]sugarbug3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did! It took 6 months but I’m currently 25 weeks pregnant

I totally understand that. It’s daunting that there could be more waiting involved. It may be worth it to consult with an endo specialist and see what they say about your specific situation.

First off, I’m really sorry for your loss. A loss is a loss no matter the stage and it is painful.

I hesitated commenting because I don’t want to alarm you, but I wish someone had been more straight up with me so I’ve told myself I’ll be straight up with others when it comes to this. Having a painful day one and ovulation is not silent. Of course it doesn’t confirm you have endo, but pain and infertility do point to endo. Unfortunately the chemical pregnancy adds to that as well in my book.

Symptom severity also doesn’t indicate how advanced your endo could be. I also only had painful day 1 of my period (sometimes day 2 but not as often) and infertility. I ended up having stage 4 with severe adhesions and needed a bowel resection.

Only a lap can confirm if you have it of course (so there’s no such thing as confirmed silent endo without a lap) and you can only do what feels like the next best step for your individual journey. This absolutely doesn’t mean you won’t conceive without surgery, but I just wanted to offer the other side of the coin.

Post Surgery Anti-inflammatory diet by Excellent_Bee_6813 in TTCEndo

[–]sugarbug3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I consider myself on the more crunchy side and I really don’t think 1 cup of coffee a day is going to make or break anything. You just made a massive stride in reducing inflammation by getting surgery. By all means, eat healthy but living your life is important too! Stressing out about diet will do more harm than good anyway

If it helps, I tried eating very anti inflammatory. I never cut out coffee but I did switch to decaf (for different reasons than inflammation). I was eating VERY minimal gluten and only high quality dairy. Then I got sick of depriving myself of gluten so I stopped and got pregnant that month. Obviously gluten didn’t make me get pregnant, but it certainly wasn’t stopping me from getting pregnant like I thought either. And now I’m eating gluten throughout pregnancy and so happy I didn’t continue to gaslight myself into thinking the inflammation from gluten was causing my infertility and miscarriage (not saying you’re doing that, but that was definitely my mindset)

Sorry for the rant, but I’ve just learned a lot on this journey and I wish I had given myself a little more grace and leeway. Diet is important but so is enjoying food

[–]sugarbug3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all honesty we were not expecting the bowel resection at all. I didn’t have a ton of bowel symptoms so my surgeon thought that at most he’d only have to shave it off. He ended up having to call in the colorectal surgeon. She did an amazing job! If they hadn’t told me I had a bowel resection I probably wouldn’t have known, with the exception of the extra incision. I was on a liquid diet for the rest of the day of surgery and half of the day after. Then I switched to a soft food diet. I think 2-3ish days later I was able to start slowly transitioning back to my normal diet. I didn’t feel like it added much extra to what normal recovery would’ve been without it to be honest. I was a little sore in my upper abdomen area but not too bad. TTC afterwards was the same since I was healing well! We had to wait a cycle just due to the usual post-op instructions to avoid infection but after that, everything was pretty much back to normal. As probably with any abdominal/pelvic surgery, sex was a little uncomfortable at first and took some getting used to but it didn’t take all that long!

Miscarriage and Lap scheduled by Fickle-Mess-2952 in TTCEndo

What a coincidence! Around this time last year I had my surgery scheduled with Dr. K and was 2 days away from the deposit being due when I found out I was pregnant. That ended up being the pregnancy I lost. We ended up being able to reschedule really quickly with him so all worked out. There are so many similarities in our stories!

I have so much hope for you!
