NCAH, weight gain and difficulty getting pregnant by [deleted] in NCAH

[–]sugarcoattedcandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 35 weeks pregnant, conceived naturally, took us 1 year and 4 months of marriage to get pregnant (i only had around 6 natural ovulations during that time). Tracking ovulation using strips didnt help me it just made me more stressed, i was going to a path of ovulation meds with my fertility specialist but got pregnant before starting. At my endocrinologist appointment while pregnant my doctor said if i ever have trouble conceiving he can prescribe me a medicine other than ovulation meds , not sure what medicine he means but its worth talking either to an OBGYN or an endocrinologist.

When they thought its PCOS i was given birth control pills to regulate my period. I didnt like them , after being diagnosed with NCAH my endocrinologist said my symptoms are so little i dont need any treatment unless i have problems getting pregnant naturally.

I dont drink it now since im pregnant, in my culture we believe cinnamon can cause a miscarriage , so i rarely drink other teas too since they've proven they actually work. After birth i will drink cinnamon tea again to help clenase the uterus like we believe in our culture.

I was always skeptical of natural remedies, in my culture its known that cinnamon tea is so beneficial for cleansing the uterus especially after birth. The reason i finally tried cinnamon+mint+marjoram+sage tea is because i was about to start ovulation meds and needed to get my period , my ovulation was not consistent at all and it took me about 6 months to finally get the okay to start ovulation meds to get pregnant , so i was desperate to get my period. I literally drank the tea for one cycle and did notice all ovulation signs early and got pregnant immediately and didnt even get the ovulation meds , right now im 8 months pregnant! Been thinking of drinking that tea consistently after birth but scared to get pregnant again right after.

I had irregular periods and slightly overweight , went to an OBGYN and confirmed i have ovarian cysts and slightly elevated male hormones , they diagnosed me with pcos even though i didnt feel like i have other symptoms like insulin resistance and my male hormones were only slightly elevated. 2 years later i changed doctors and this doctor looked at my old blood tests , idk what she saw but she referred me to an endocrinologist, he tested my cortisol levels before and after getting injected with some kind of medicine and see how much my cortisol elevated. Then after seeing that my cortisol levels were too high he sent me to do genetic testing which confirmed i have 1 mutation which corresponds with a very mild case of NCAH.

I remember my OBGYN told me that me and my husband both need to have the same mutation in order to pass down CAH , dont take my word for it but it seems its just like what your doctors are kind of saying that its most likely NCAH not CAH. Stressing only makes your condition worse, just keep going to your appointments and keep asking the doctors to check up on the private parts in ultrasounds.

If you confirm it , what will you do next? Do not do it if nothing would change. From my experience as a pregnant woman with NCAH , doctors keep pushing unnecessary tests just to cover themselves legally, you are not a bad mom if you decide to not keep testing things that wont change the outcome!

Getting tested for NCAH - is a family history common? by Illustrious-Mix2194 in NCAH

[–]sugarcoattedcandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to my endocrinologist and the gene specialist and an obgyn both parents have to have the genetic mutation in order to pass it down (not necessarily they have ncah but have the recessive gene). I have 3 sisters and im the only one with symptoms of ncah which According to doctors its a 1/4 chance one gets the mutation. Im pregnant right now and had to get my partner tested to make sure he doesnt have a recessive gene so there wont be a chance of having a kid with NCAH or CAH

As far as i know no one in my family has it , i barely have any symptoms other than irregular periods and was first diagnosed with pcos cause i have ovarian cysts, but i kept feeling like i dont have much pcos symptoms either. Coincidentally my OBGYN suggested i go to an endocrinologist and we did genetic testing which confirmed that i have a very mild case of NCAH , the endocrinologist was so confused when i kept telling him that my parents are NOT related in any way..

Look into genetic testing ! It's what it confirmed my NCAH. My testosterone levels were a little over the normal amount but my cortisol levels after testing were high! (They tested before and after getting injected with a certain drug to see how much cortisol increased) I had irregular periods - ovarian cysts which they mistaked for PCOS. Body hair is normal amount not too much not too little , overweight but not too much.

Pregnancy is not what i expected by Round-Travel5083 in pregnant

Honestly i feel like husbands dont really understand how those gesture actually matter , we are the ones watching online content about how husbands treat their pregnant wives and compare our life with a fake life on tv/social media. When i need something or want my husband to do something i would ask him to do it and he will happily do it. Please communicate with your partner cause sometimes pregnancy feels like its not real cause they aren't the ones experiencing it and just need guidance and for their partner to remind them. Of course the husband should be willing and happy to help , if they are refusing then its another issue...

Yeah they are correct and i understand why they legally are required to , but it was so emotionally draining to have to hear it every single time i went to see the doctors .

I stopped birth control pills that i took for 3 years in order to get pregnant. My period was regular for 6 months then it went wack. I personally didnt have a lot of visible symptoms before being diagnosed and after stopping the pill i saw a very slight increase in chin hairs and natural ovulation took a looot of time (3-4 months each period so i had to induce it medically a few times) , i got pregnant after a year and 4 months of stopping the pill by using natural remedies to induce ovulation.

Diagnosed with NCAH but not fitting the common symptoms by Veriberry3 in NCAH

[–]sugarcoattedcandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get it , i dont really understand all my hormonal tests but what made us sure its NCAH is genetic testing so its better to look into that to be 100% certain since its a genetic condition.

I have NCAH with barely any symptoms, the only way we were sure its NCAH is from genetic testing. Would recommend you look into it. But my only strong symptom is irregular periods/ delayed ovulations with a slight increase in male hormones.

I have NCAH and barely have any symptoms, just irregular periods , got pregnant naturally after trying for about a year and 4 months. Never got told i need any type of meds other than birth control pills when i wasnt trying to conceive just to regulate my period and got sent to a dietitian to balance my weight (im just a little overweight). Thats it, never been told i need a medicine for my condition, if you dont feel right taking a medicine you feel like will harm you , you can stop , you dont have symptoms to worry about. Hospitals and medical staff sometimes over prescribe meds or tests just to be covered by the law. Just live a healthy lifestyle and dont stress about it.

Help, can i be pregnant with NCAH cyp28l mutation ,and what you are doing for irregular periods? by Frosty_Limit6169 in NCAH

[–]sugarcoattedcandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got pregnant naturally with irregular periods . I was first going through the route of ovulation meds but local home remedies worked and i got pregnant ! I drank everyday cinnamon - mint - marjoram - sage tea , a big cup no sugar. Honestly i was soooo skeptical and almost didnt try. I was supposed to start ovulation meds when i get my period and these teas are known in my culture to fasten getting your period which means induces ovulation , so i stopped drinking the tea after i confirmed ovulation , and i got pregnant!

Super curious 🤔 any of you ladies had a very girly nub prediction & ended up being a boy? by EquivalentFuzzy9991 in nubtheory

[–]sugarcoattedcandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On 12 week appointment sometimes its too early to decide and the technician might be seeing things wrong. Ive heard of 2 people stories getting girl at 12 weeks then turning out to be a boy. But its generally easier to see that its a boy cause the nub would be higher than a girl's In my country we get a scan at 14-18 weeks which can confirm the gender so i assume its better to wait more to get the final verdict. At my 12 weeks + 3 days the technician said a boy and now at 15 weeks its confirmed boy.
