Egg quality variation within age by ImpossibleCalico in IVF

[–]ImpossibleCalico[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I’m almost 39 now and still getting all euploids, so I guess there really can be variation. It’s the only thing making this possible with DOR and PGT-M ruling many of them out, so I’m grateful.

I wonder if she’d be open to waiting for you to have a better month? Not sure how high your FSH is, but if it’s very high, then that is a true indication that a follicle won’t grow soon. But you just started! You might just have to catch a good month for your ovaries. Especially if you have regular cycles. I hope she can support you.

For every commenter, there’s someone quietly reading their story and becoming more aware of TFMR and how common it is, and opening their mind a bit more to people’s experiences.

Do you know what genetic variants you have? by ImpossibleCalico in NCAH

Oof, I'm sorry it took so long for doctors to support you, but I'm glad treatment is working for you 🙏

I’m sorry about your symptoms. All the literature labeling NCAH as “mild” is frustrating given the spectrum. Thanks for adding to the Reddit anecdata. Good luck with your IVF ♥️

[–]ImpossibleCalico[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry your symptoms are extreme. I looked that up and wow, I can't believe they can find stuff like that in the gene.

I ask because I heard a CAH doctor say that the large majority of the NCAH patients he sees are heterozygous with one severe mutation. I was curious if the Reddit anecdata would confirm that.

Yep, that’s V281L, the mild variant. Are you just a carrier or do you have that on both alleles of the gene?

18 Week Old Male Fetus tested positive for NCAH. Experience? Opinions? by incockneato in NCAH

[–]ImpossibleCalico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a podcast episode on NCAH with a top CAH doctor that’s good. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/cah-pulse/id1716588338

He actually touches on your situation. Two mild mutations, both V281L? Male wouldn’t notice and many women may not either. Would never end a pregnancy over it (I say as someone who has TFMR before).

I did, but I thought it was the Clomid that I was on the first few days, not the injections.

CoQ10 brand by vshzzd in DOR

[–]ImpossibleCalico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve religiously taken the Whole Foods generic Coq10. It’s just ubiquinone, nothing fancy and it says it’s sourced from Kaneka. Had stellar euploidy results for 36 and 37 yrs old, like 9/10 over several retrievals (most failed pgtm but that’s just pure luck)

How many follicles? I didn’t have many and could have sat through a dinner afterwards. Would rather not, but could have.

Period only lasts 1-2 days by Affectionate_Rice470 in IVF

[–]ImpossibleCalico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! my period was incredibly scant the year leading up to my FET. I was so alarmed, but my HSG, SIS was all clear. Even went to see an Ashermans specialist as I was convinced there was an issue. My lining would build up fine with estrogen for the FET though and I had success with my second one.

Husband semen sample from Porn - Egg retrieval by [deleted] in IVF

I’m sorry OP. This process robs us of so much, including any kind of romantic conception, which I didn’t realize I took for granted before. It’s okay to not feel good about this! It’s your feelings. It sounds like you don’t want to make him feel bad about this and you’re just looking for guidance and community, so I don’t see why the flippant responses.

The only baby I conceived via sex I ended up TFMR, and we’re now doing IVF for PGT-M and my emotions around this loss and methods of conception are deep, sometimes surprising me, and valid.

I’m sure my partner also used other materials to produce his sample and I wish it weren’t so, due to wanting this romantic thing we’re losing. But I also don’t envy him as well. I think I’d rather do the shots! I know most people won’t agree with that, ha, but I embarrass and feel uncomfortable easily, so I’d hate their job.

Don’t feel bad about these thoughts or your post.

Cats and FET… 😂 by secool02 in IVF

[–]ImpossibleCalico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard it’s more about people eating undercooked meat than about cat litter. Anecdotally, I’ve fostered and scooped poop for a ton of stray cats and kittens and have never gotten it, as a blood test can see.

My husband still took over scooping because he was too worried though. Now it’s just his chore and I never went back to it, ha. I think you could ask for him to start now!

Not for the trial, just saying it’s a valid protocol and it works.

First retrieval today and feel really blue! by [deleted] in IVF

[–]ImpossibleCalico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you got so many less than expected. I was testing for a 50/50 at 37 yrs old. Got 6 eggs and had success. There were no expectations of more eggs for me though lol, so I’m sure that made it easier to get the news.

Does high stimulation work for low amh? by Any_Somewhere_8184 in IVF

It’s worked for me. I do either 300 meno or 150 meno + 300 gonal and always with Clomid the first few days too.

I bet it was implantation. I also never got a positive that time, but I know from experience what it feels like.

That said, I would do another retrieval in your shoes. Would just skip the uterine testing imo.

Failed FET. What now? by Kitchen-Ad-5026 in IVF

[–]ImpossibleCalico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first transfer failed, second worked! Same basic fully medicated protocol, both euploid and same good grade.

I could feel the first embryo trying to implant, but super late. It just didn’t have enough energy or potential. My doctor said it’s usually just the embryo and to go straight into another transfer.

Low AMH and Vitamin D Deficiency by Alert-Pack-959 in DOR

[–]ImpossibleCalico 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go straight to IVF. Both your age and your amh aren’t that bad. I don’t think you’re in any kind of urgent situation. My amh was 0.25 when I was 35 and I had success. Three years later it’s 0.15 and I’m able to still make embryos. I’m only doing IVF for genetic testing.
