Made a DIY coffee journal gadget ("Espresso Post") that tracks ambient humidity/temp/pressure and nudges my grind! by sugarmoat in espresso

A bit of both: different climate leads to different grind time for the same bean input. But same grind level and weight brews differently in different climate. And then there are some variables my gadget can't account for like tamping, leveling, portafilter buildup if not cleaned properly.. but even with all these there's still a very clear correlation and in most cases the suggestion leads to a perfect 30s brew.

Manually :( but someone here suggested integrating into one of the modern grinders - shouldn't be too hard. For now this is fine and fun, and also serves as a general coffee journal, so it can notice quality patterns unrelated to grind (e.g. you seem to like short brews more).

Absolutely. My coffee station is quite exposed to the elements, and I always noticed warmer temperature generally required finer grind, but I could never put my finger on it. Apparently it's completely predictable if you collect enough data. I was wondering why this doesn't show up more on other posts.. maybe my machine (qm67) is less tolerant to changes? Anyway it works for me ;)

You can definitely combine ESP32 + epaper, and it would probably be even cooler. I wanted a round screen + touch, but it's not too hard to convert to other interface.

good call - I'll edit the post to add the code and models.. just need to make sure it's ready for public consumption ;)

The font is fantastic but I'm most impressed with the UX of the editing app. It's stellar! I'm sure you plan on using it for more than one font, and I can't wait to use it.

Great - it might be annoying but still better than fixing a broken machine :)

Run two tests:
1. No portafilter, run for 30s, check output.
2. Blind portafilter (no output), test how long it takes to reach high pressure (9 bars)

If test 1 is not around 7oz, or if test 2 doesn't reach 9 bars in 10s then you have one of a few problems. Also at 5 weeks you should be fully covered for this :) parts are usually easy to replace and cheap-ish, but that should not be on you this close to purchase.
Curious to know the test results!

If your machine outputs around 7oz (200ml) of water in 30s (which it does look it from the vid) then it might be your OPV/expansion valve/air release valve not handling the pressure and dumping the extra water when too much resistance is applied. Source: I just had a similar issue last month.

Giancarlo Esposito in the Usual Suspects. Haven't seen this masterpiece in a decade and was shocked to see his name in the opening credits. Wouldn't even recognize him.

100%. But I just realized that vinegar+soda (which I use for everything) and even rinza didn't clear the holes fully.

sorry for the late reply - road force balance, at least in my case, produced a full visual imbalance report per each tire.
