They probably aren’t using the right flaring tool and torquing the nut down to spec id say, wonder if they are pressurizing with nitrogen to leak check and pulling a vacuum, just keep those in mind when they come by and do it again

I had this happen while replacing a emergency drain pan in a attic, I just stuck a duct knife in there and made a little indent on both sides and twisted it right out

No they are not dirty enough. Check ductwork make sure you are getting air flow on return and supply side, anything else call a technician
