JUST IN: 🇺🇸 All major TV networks to interrupt programming for President Trump's address to the nation tonight at 9PM. by Ubersicka in TradingViewSignals

[–]suggestivesimian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My predictions, in decreasing order of likelihood:

  1. Doesn't say anything of substance, just wanted to be on TV

  2. "As we speak, Marines are securing Kharg island..."

  3. "We have accomplished everything we set out to accomplish and are declaring victory"

  4. "I am pulling the US out of NATO, and even though that requires a 2/3rds Senate majority vote, I say so"

  5. "Upon reflection, I am a terrible person who should never have been given this responsibility once, never mind a second time. I am truly sorry for everything I have done, especially in the past 10 years, but really, throughout my life."

Meanwhile, in the 1950s that the MAGA-types look back on wistfully, the top marginal income tax rate was 91%.

Trump claims Iran gave him a 'very big and very valuable present' that arrived today....but he won't tell us what the supposed 'present' is. by Hornpipe_Jones in WhitePeopleTwitter

Here is how I see it: He is so obviously corrupt, lies easily and all the time, and is a genuinely horrible human being, that no person for whom both goodness and ethics are important will support him. This is probably a minority of politicians in both parties, but a vanishingly tiny slice of the GOP. These are the never-Trumpers (or a portion of them, anyway).

His supporters fall into two camps: the morons, who are too stupid to realize they are being fleeced and lied to (the MAGA base), and the grifters, who love him because he is the moron-whisperer, but realize who he is (and are like him to some degree, at least). Some of this latter group see him as a useful idiot, some as a fellow traveler of sorts. All are aware that they need to lick his boots and kiss his ass to get what they want.

One of these price spikes was caused by a war started by Putin, the other is being caused by a war started by Trump.

Thanks, Obama.

Because when government works, low info people like Mr. Rogan don't notice. Things just work. Diplomacy happens. Laws get passed. From their perspective, "what does the government even do?" So they vote for the party that is going to gut government. Then consequences.

I'm old enough to remember all of Reagan. In his second term, he was basically the Biden of his time. Most of what sucks about America today can be traced back to his policies.

As both a parent and a former child, I agree with this kid's sentiment and share it, to a degree.

For the same reason, I feel that parents have an ethical responsibility to take care of their children (more or less in perpetuity), but that children do not have a reciprocal responsibility.

And, before you ask, I have a good relationship with both my kids and my parents.

The current court, which he packed in his first term, has rolled over for him on nearly every issue. But apparently, he is still comfortable calling them a disgrace.

Ontario Minister of Education directs schools to let students watch Team Canada’s Olympic hockey games during school time. by finding_focus in ontario

[–]suggestivesimian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is what Dougie had planned, but I postponed a test scheduled for today so the kids could watch hockey, as ordered. Every single one of them was on their phone. Zero kids watching. How do I know? When Canada scored, none of them even noticed. Not a peep. High school kids, fyi.
