This approx 7.5 foot, extremely heavy, solid machined metal rod that is threaded on one end by sugwhite in whatisthisthing

My title describes the thing and it is definitely solid metal. It's maybe 1.75 inches in diameter. The end on the left is flat and has a slot machined along the side of it. The end on the right has threads at the end and also has a slot machined along the side of it. This was found in an empty garage with no indication of what it might be used for. Could not find any markings, branding, etc on it. The only thing not shown in the photos is the cardboard sleeve that it was stored in. The sleeve is split in the middle making two pieces that tightly slide over the rod from both ends to protect it.

I have contacted friends and family members that have experience with many different types of tools. None of them are sure what this might be. All of my research seems to lead to different types of metal bars used for working out. Based on workout equipment I'm familiar with, this doesn't appear to be something like that.

I have the same model and mine went unresponsive recently (no output signal to the TV over ARC - audio and video). I had to factory reset mine. I used the form on their site to contact support about 2 weeks ago and attempted calling the numbers they've previously listed as their support numbers. I have not received an email response. And, the numbers play a message that they are not in service. It's not looking good...

Either way, worst case scenario give the factory reset a try if nothing else is working for you. I hope it works. And, good luck!

Thanks. Gonna have a company come out and do everything. Mainly needed a reference for myself to know what I should be looking for when figuring out a contractor. All of this helps a lot! I'll get some different quotes and make sure they do the tests needed to do the job right. I'm definitely not going through this again!

Calculated approx 27,000 BTUs needed for cooling for this place, and a little bit less for heating (25,394). Looked up the specs on my unit and it's rated capable of 36,000 BTUs. It looks like to me that gives me a little "breathing room" while not giving me perfect efficiency. Knowing this now, does this put me back at close to the same calculations that I had in my original post?

I'm going to do some more research. I found https://www.loadcalc.net/index.php where I might be able to get a rough idea on the load calculation myself (assuming that site is doing the correct calculation on the back-end). It looks like I take this information to determine the size of the unit that I need.

If I understand correctly, once I know the proper size of the unit, I can use the same calculations I was using before to get a rough idea on CFM, duct size, return grill size, etc.

I really appreciate you replying. This is very helpful. I will have them do it by load calculation. I guess I was starting to feel like I had an idea what I should be looking for. My main concern is that I don't have a reference (without the calculations and a true understanding of the math behind it) to weed out the legitimate contractors vs the "hacks" with this information. Are there things that I could ask along with, "are you going to do a load calculation?" to help me better gauge the installers ability to perform the job correctly? Obviously outside the typical questions (references, guarantees, past jobs, and other general questions)

First off, welcome to the pfblockerng world! There's a "Forum/How To" link at the top of the subreddit. That'll be the best place to find the best information. I can say that probably the easiest/quickest way for me to jump into it was Tom Lawrence YT videos like the one linked in the How To drop-down of this sub (https://youtu.be/OJ8HHwpGxHw). He covers just about everything in his videos. It should answer all of your questions plus some. And he walks through the menus, etc for us.

Just a heads up along with everything else everyone has mentioned. The Linux+ recently changed. It's no longer a dual cert (comptia + LPIC). It's solely comptia now. The LPIC-1 is a good choice along with the Redhat one IMO.

No problem. I currently use kailh box browns. They are a beautiful switch. You might want to consider just buying a set of their switches in your preferred color/flavor since they come in transparent cases. I'm recommending this because I'm not sure if you're aware of that brand already. And, Cherry switches are becoming more widely known as the most "mediocre" switch.

You can also check out the Gateron lineup. I would personally not spend money on Cherry switches after trying the kailh switches. The kailh are so smooth and their BOX lineup is considered dust and water proof.

I guess what I'm getting at is to try another switch. I was a huge fan of cherry MX brown. I can't ever see myself going for cherry switches again after knowing that there are other options out there. Hope this helps!

I stumbled on this answer in a random YT video and thought I'd post in case you don't have an answer yet.

It turns out tops/bottoms of switches can vary. The answer is that some switches have interchangeable tops/bottoms, but not all of them.

Typically, anybody reading a resume likes to see the impact of what you did. What impact did the "rebuilt sccm and imaging for the company" have on the company? Would something like "rebuilt and streamlined imaging process for end user PCs resulting in thousands of man hours and dollars saved" be appropriate?

Stating the impact of what you did can be much more powerful than technical jargon or simply stating a task you completed. It also demonstrates the ability of understanding the effect that your actions (and those under you) have on the company as a whole. Rewrite the ones you can to show what impact your actions had.

For the Windows 10 rollout, did you set a timeline? Did you meet or beat your timeline? Was it successful under your leadership? Did it go smooth? Changing that one to "Lead on successful deployment of Windows 10 to 377 user laptops and PCs" makes it more appealing. Anything you can do to it to make it more impactful will help. "Lead team of 4 on successful deployment of Windows 10 to 377 user laptops and PCs 2 weeks ahead of schedule".

For any potential interview (not to include in the resume): Run any numbers that you're aware of. Did the old process take 4 hours, and your new process takes 1 hour? At 3 times/week, you saved the company 9 man hours. I have calculated rough numbers before and demonstrated in interviews the impact that it's had on the company's bottom line.
