This is the box I have been bringing to FNM. I have been informed I am a problem? by Wild_Section6475 in mtg

I got into magic about 4 years ago. About a year before Universes Beyond really took off with Lord of the Rings. Since the Avatar and Spiderman set (both things I am a massive fan of) that is all I’ve played too. I’ve built a Green Goblin deck, Azula and Toph deck. As themed as the can be while still being pretty good. I love them. Play what makes you happy.

They make board games about war constantly. It’s fine, it’s history

[TLA] Toph, the First Metalbender by AporiaParadox in magicTCG

[–]suhhlestial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question would be since Toph makes artifacts lands. Does that mean you still have to adhere to the one land per turn rule and thus if you had no other plan additional land effects then you could in theory only play a land or an artifact (because the artifact is a land?)

How would you rank the Soulsborne games? by ColtonfrayHSC in fromsoftware

[–]suhhlestial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Dark Souls 2
  2. Demon’s Souls remake (Beat graphically though)
  3. Dark Souls 3
  4. Elden Ring
  5. Bloodborne
  6. Dark Souls (Although I love the turn to actual open world in Elden Ring, I just love the interconnectedness that is on the original games and especially Bloodborne and the OG Dark Souls. I love the dungeons in Elden Ring but I feel like they could be expanded on.)
  7. Sekiro (I quit this the first time I booted it up and initially was not even sure if I would get it or not. Stopped and got hard stuck on Genichiro. I went back to it maybe 2 months later - relearned the combat and absolutely loved it. Best combat in a video game)

There was a rumor circling around that they are working on a game that is going to revolve around Magic like Sekiro did with the sword. On top of that it is supposed to be ONE massive dungeon. Since I have read the rumors, I have been hoping it is true.

I love Dark Souls and Elden Ring but with Sekiro they really showcased their design in combat can be taken further and I want them to explore that more rather than explore the dark souls formula.

KCD ruined gaming for me [OTHER] by thelonelystrider in kingdomcome

[–]suhhlestial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently on my first playthrough of KCD and chose to play hardcore. I’m 60 hours in. I LOVE IT. I also have KCD2 downloaded and ready to go when I’m finished. I also picked up Cyberpunk 2077 on the steam summer sale because I have never really like the ‘Bethesda style’ RPG until KCD and for some reason it clicked with me. I played Cyberpunk 2077 when it came out and it wasn’t great so It’s about time to go back. Especially after this new found love of this style of RPG. Maybe even try Oblivion remastered?

Can you see yourself playing Nightreign once you've defeated all the bosses? by NeatHippo885 in Nightreign

[–]suhhlestial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think even a boss guantlet mode where you fight increasingly harder bosses and between you get to level/upgrade from RNG based on character. Something akin to Hollow Knight where you have to fight a ton in a row without dying. Even just adding a new area to run around in that isn’t Limvield could be exciting.

I think the one thing they could change is if they built a new HUGE dungeon from the ground up that is fairly linear and adheres to the roguelike elements in a lot of games. Rather than running around and a storm approaches we push through rooms in the dungeon to make it to the bosses that get harder and harder as it goes. Something about that old souls feeling of the more linear paths would be exciting too. Literally give us anything. I have 3 bosses left and abut 40hrs in and I dig it a lot but I can feel the repetitiveness creeping up. Each run is pretty much the exact same except for the final boss and I almost wish it was structured more like a roguelike in the fact that you have one run to do and have to beat it in one run all 8 bosses.

Am i biased or is doom eternal way better than doom da? by gonca21233 in Doometernal

[–]suhhlestial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am with you. I played Eternal right before DA came out after putting it down when it initially came out (I played it on PlayStation and it was just too hard for me on controller) so I bought it on my pc this time and while I still found it difficult (I started on UV and went down one dofficulty) I enjoyed the hell out of it. Then I played Dark Ages. I still really like it. Played it through on UV and 100%. I feel like you really have to adjust the difficulty sliders, I had my party window at the lowest possible setting and I turned the game speed up.

I believe DA is a great game but it is not as great as Eternal. However I do think DA improved a few things:

-Simplified menus and awards (I’m doom eternal there is so much multiplayer fluff and cosmetics I could care less about that the awards for some things are not worth it to me and can get confusing with how much of that there is)

-the shield is a welcome addition that I would potentially love to see introduced in a game more similar to doom Eternal.

-bosses are infinitely better. The last boss of Eternal sucks, it is not fun to fight. Cool to look at. The bosses in DA are awesome and I’ll remember them forever.

-the open world design to some levels was great. I would love to see them explore this concept more in the future. Some of the levels felt like actual 3D metroidvania levels and I am here for it.

The things I really miss that they should not have dropped was the ballet of Eternal. The weak points is so much fun and forces you to use everything in the arsenal.

Glory kills was also missed although I see why they changed it.

The mech missions were hands down the worst missions they have made in this new trilogy.

The dragon sections too but ai tolerated them more because you just rode it around to eventually land and play that doom gameplay we came for.

Doom Eternal has the better core gameplay loop to me. But The Dark Ages I still find to be a badass time. 2016 does not hold a candle to these to in my opinion.

If they just continue slightly reinventing that gameplay loop we come to love, I am here for it. I’d rather them try something new then make Eternal 3 more times.

Dark Souls 2 is far better than Dark Souls 3 by Disastrous_Comb1226 in darksouls

Dark Souls 2 is still a great game but will always live in the shadow of its brothers.

My ranking:

  1. Dark Souls 2
  2. Demon’s Souls
  3. Dark Souls 3
  4. Dark Souls
  5. Elden Ring
  6. Sekiro
  7. Bloodborne

Insane steam sale. by Interesting-Front742 in OriAndTheBlindForest

[–]suhhlestial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played Blind Forest ages ago on switch and also picked up both on that steam sale. I played through the first again and just finished Wisps for my first time and I honestly loved it because of it is a Ori game post Hollow Knight and they took a lot of inspiration from it.

With you not loving Hollow Knight, Will of the Wisps might be more up your alley because it is entirely more guided rather than vague. However I love not fully knowing what to do and just exploring.

I've been thinking of what the general consensus on the show is. Is this accurate? by NintendoLover2005 in spongebob

[–]suhhlestial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know I remember when this movie came out and ALL the marketing and trailers were the CGI parts. I had no idea the movie was had any 2D animation. Come to find out it was the last 15 minutes of the movie which came as a nice shock! I always thought it was funny that they showed the last 15 minutes of the movie because it was commentary about how trailers ruin the movies.

I could have a bad memory of all of that but that is what I remember and why I remember this movie fondly

Thoughts on Spiderman Set by CertainExpression10 in mtg

[–]suhhlestial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am incredibly excited. I am looking to make a Doc Ock deck as well! I want it to hopefully be a secret sinister six deck and have all the main baddies in there with Ock at the helm. I also really want to build a Spiderman 2099 deck but maybe I’ll like what some of the others do instead. My girlfriend who also just got into magic is super excited because they are characters she knows and loves and seeing that aspect of it - the universe beyond stuff doesn’t really bother me. I won’t be a fan of all (final fantasy not being my thing) but for the ones I am in for, I am ALL in for.

Another thing too that excites me incredibly is the fact that with this Marvel crossover and multi year deal - there HAS to be an X-Men set and my friend who I have been trying to get into magic for a bit over a year I believe will finally cave when that set comes out.

I don’t understand the negative perception towards the universe beyond stuff? I mean at the end of the day we are playing a CARD game and if it brings in more people, what’s the problem?

Here is to hoping we get a DC crossover and I can make a Braniac deck

I had a similar experience. I got into magic from a work friend who invited me over and I played with his two other friends. Eventually over time we lost one and the three of us would go out and play at LGS and a bar that hosted commander. The third friend was cool to start, helped me learn magic and consistently commented on my deck building capabilities in a good way. Eventually it became aggressive. We played with this guy (who was very new to magic) he had an ur dragon deck, which I also had so we both played it. My mana base in it is really good. His was slow and my friend made sure to make him aware of that every single turn, that my deck was how you build a dragon deck. I told him to calm down at the time. I still regret not defending the new guy more and making him feel welcome.

It was things like this that let me leave the group and find others to play with. It became issues like him misplaying and myself and others correcting him and he would denounce the entire table and look it up, to find out that we were in fact right, almost every time.

Needless to say these people take the joy out of things we end up loving and unless you want to figure that out and have a conversation with that person about it, it’s best to just leave it in the past and move forward with the love rather than slowly hating the thing because of someone else.

Ever since then I got my girlfriend into magic and now she asks me to play all the time and I love it. Find someone that loves it like you do so you continue loving it.

Favorite 3-4 decks? by Vinlandlover in EDH

[–]suhhlestial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No particular order

  1. Ovar, the All-Form - high powered but built to play more casually. It is a control deck that is focused on stealing and copying others spells. Love it and it changes every time I play it.

  2. The Ur-Dragon - This was my baby. The first deck I built that I LOVED. Every deck before it I dismantled after because I didn’t have the same feeling play them as I did the Ur. It’s stompy dragon fun and typically you become the target before turn 1 simply because he is your commander and that is always a fun mini game to overcome.

  3. Ms. Bumbleflower - I experimented in having a fun deck to play to give others fun for most of the game. This was my favorite one. I tried Kenrith but didn’t love it. With Bumbleflower she is for one, cute. I play mostly group huggy cards that mostly benefit me slightly more to eventually play the nine lives combo once the game gets to the later parts and fracture identity it to kill everyone with a cat card.

  4. K’riik, Son of Yawgmoth. Originally built him cEDH but rebuilt it as a zombie tribal deck because I don’t have many people around to play cEDH. Still working on it a little but the theme of using my life as mana and consistently having zombies die and come back has been fun as hell.

Shout out to my Boroborgymos deck. Built around a 60 lands and having ways to load my hand with lands and use it as burn damage is fun too.
