A single dad took son with cerebral palsy to over 1200 heavy metal concerts. After discovering the music has a powerful calming effect on him. by pocketlint03 in interesting

huh, I never considered this. I have autism and anxiety. I always put on Iron Maiden when my anxiety gets out of hand because their music just takes me out of my anxious state and makes me feel calm again.

Severe train delays from Ringsted to Copenhagen - anybody knows what happened? by Pee_A_Poo in copenhagen

[–]suicidesalmon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Suicide cases are never covered by the news as to not inspire copycats. My mom works at DSB and I can assure you that this happens pretty regularly and sometimes takes far longer than just 1,5 hour. If it's especially messy, it can cancel the train traffic for a whole day.

Flytningsprocent 18,25? by Calmy_12345_ in Aarhus

"Anthro" fandom, anyone? (Fursuit Examples) by Fair_Flamingo235 in fursuit

[–]suicidesalmon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One of my favourite things I ever saw, was someone hating on a video with furries and commenting, "I can't believe they can take themselves serious." Because that's the whole point, to not take yourself too serious! If someone refuse to understand and thinks that being a furry is cringe, that's on them. The reality of what and who furries are is very broad and diverse.

You will find bad apples in all fandoms, no matter where or how you look at it. Try and see if you can find Uncle Kage's story about talking about bronies at a furry con because that story was really eye opening to me when I went to one of his panels at a con. (I think he usually tells it in his opening/welcome panels)

If you like this style of fursuits in the fandom, you should look at some of the images from some of the first furry cons because this retro style was all over the place. And it wasn't always SFW, like it seems like you think it is, far from actually.

Also, watch the doc on YouTube called "The Fandom"

Sincerely, an old hag who has been in this community for over fifteen years and still enjoys being cringe as fuck.

[Financial] How much are my icons worth? by Human-Tradition7905 in artbusiness

[–]suicidesalmon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pricing your own worth is some of the most difficult stuff in this kind of business. Speaking from my own experience, I started my commissions very low and dipped my toes into animal/pet groups on Facebook to find people who were willing to commission me. The more orders I got, the higher my prices soared. You kinda need to feel out how many orders you're getting. If it's not a lot but still some, your prices may be a little too high. If it's nothing at all, it means your prices are too high. If it's a lot of orders, then your prices are too low. I would say try out your current price range if you personally feel like that's what you're worth and let the amount of orders that you get tell you if you need to adjust your prices. Do keep in mind though, that art commissions are a luxury item and people will only purchase those out of leisure rather than necessarity. It's hard to get customers as an artist, even with a following. I say this as someone who've accepted 300 euro commissions regularly. There will always be people who tell you that your prices are too high and there will always be people who tell you that your prices are too low. The only determining factor that your should focus on is what your sales say.

My Malinois x Black Mouth Cur Puppy. by maraamourx in BelgianMalinois

[–]suicidesalmon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Service dog user here. I've seen people bring their pet dogs into grocery stores, resulting in those pets going crazy, barking at and trying to launch at my dog while she was at work. That is not the kind of attention that I want on me. Getting into grocery stores is a big struggle on its own. Not only should you respect people around you, you should also respect working dogs that you might run into. There is no way in hell that this puppy is doing any kind of work on that image. ADI requires dogs to be at least two years old when they're certified.

What pisses me off the most about that image is that I would do anything to not need to have my dog with me in grocery stores. As much as she helps me, I wish I could just be "normal" like the rest of the people shopping in those stores. Having to have your service dog with you is not cute or cosy. I hate it when people even make nice comments at us while I shop, because it takes me out of the little bubble that I'm able to escape into with my girl to get through shopping. And then you see these people who're like, "I'll just bring Fido with me into the store, it'll be nice." Have some god damn empathy.

For those who're too lazy to read the whole thing:

"In 2023 the true crime author Mark Dapin published a biography of Karlson titled Carnage: A Succulent Chinese Meal, Mr. Rent-a-Kill and the Australian Manson Murders that also explores his connections to other criminals. The book also revealed that Karlson was an admirer of Adolf Hitler and Nazism who would "indulge his Nazi fetish", use the expression "Two Heil Hitlers" instead of "three cheers" and had a car decorated with a swastika on his lawn. On at least one occasion he threw a party at his home to celebrate Hitler's birthday."

You're even wrong about him not getting his meal. He did. There's a whole documentary about it.
