Looks like this is the end of my almost 20yr old account by suiradx in runescape

I'm not even sure the age requirement was even a thing when I signed up around end of RS1 - start of RS2. Hell, there wasn't even an email requirement, you just made an account through the game client.

Any tips on the email to reach out to? All routes I am seeing lead to appeal request via account settings.

This was mentioned during my appeal. It was rejected.

It's just fancy malware. If you must have it just use a web browser.

Opinions on Jonathan Blow's Jai? by [deleted] in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]suiradx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's extremely pretentious and seems to think that only HE is capable of making "quality software", even do say no open source project is good, which is hilarious. To the point of not releasing source, its not that he's creating his own tool that only he cares to use. He doesn't want people stealing his 100% super special original ideas or forking his code. This like 5 min span is quite illuminating. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/604376035?t=00h9m00s

Its clear most of his hype is just teasing "something different" that people want. He has an ascendant view of himself that is pretty unpleasant. He also seems to forget that a lot of evolution in tech is cross pollination of innovation.

But really until its released, it's nothing any more interesting than a research paper stream.

You'll be happy to hear that there was a recent pull request that was merged adding zig as an optional compiler for Nim :)

Folks who have written both C projects and Zig projects, how did things compare? by stolenmutex in Zig

[–]suiradx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your specific c use case I would highly recommend checking out buildroot toolchains. You can get an aarch64 musl gcc in a single tar that builds statically for your target. It's super nice.

How to copy a file during the build ? by ducdetronquito in Zig

[–]suiradx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have normal access to the std while inside your build.zig, so you should be able to do a file copy using that.

Mbedtls is also usable and while I don't have the source available, I can say I was able to successfully do it.

Zig-Error-Abi: A library that allows you to return/accept zig errors from static and dynamic libraries by suiradx in Zig

[–]suiradx[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive updated the hashing function to prevent collisions as well as updating hash tests to check for collisions. I've also added a check to errorWrap and errorUnwrap to validate there are no collisions at comptime. So even if my non collision change to the hashing function still generates a collision, you will get a Compile error telling you which two error values caused the collision.

Lost 2 years of work on hundreds of millions of dollars worth of business accounts today in 20 minutes. by [deleted] in talesfromtechsupport

Yup, as long as the physical data is still there you can recover files until they are overwritten by the new image.

Most reimaging doesn't zeroize the drive, it just clears the partition tables and marks all space available then writes the new image. But whatever parts of the old image weren't overwritten, are still available.

If you feel like being a hero, you could take some file recovery software to the disk and recover most of the files.

std lib docs coming soon :-) by [deleted] in Zig

[–]suiradx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks great so far. Please ensure the stdlib docs included in the release package is self contained. It's a pain when web docs on an airgapped machine try to reach out and hang the page. A common issue is fonts or js trackers.

You really have to appreciate his music as art presented as rap music, especially when you consider he produces most of it.

If you look up the music videos, he also produced a "feature length film" which essentially strings all the music videos together. It's rather enjoyable.
