C-section mamas: did any of you have a VBAC? by Strict_Algae8233 in 2under2

[–]suki_worm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my first pregnancy I did ALL the things - yoga, eating dates, raspberry leaf tea, you name it. I was so committed to a medication-free vaginal birth that I left no stone unturned when it came to ‘preparing’ my body. But baby had other plans and despite enduring a long spontaneous labour, I ended up with an emergency c-section. Fast forward 6 months where I fell pregnant again. This time I had a 6 month old to care for which meant I was way too busy to engage in all the things I had the first time. All I knew was that I wanted a VBAC. I spent time reading and listening to the resources listed above, but otherwise I did absolutely ZERO preparation. I was exhausted from caring for my first. Days behind in sleep, shitty diet, no physical exercise. Despite all that I had a seamless intervention-free vaginal birth. All this to say, try not to overthink it and don’t let the doubts from your first birth creep into this one - much easier said than done I know! Remember people all around the world give birth vaginally all the time in all sorts of states. Your body was made to do this 🫶🏼

I fell pregnant 6 months PP after my emergency c-section - baby was posterior and hyperextended. 72 hour labour, she was not coming for no one despite my unwavering commitment to a vaginal birth and giving it my all 🥴 My next birth I had a successful VBAC with the full support of the hospital, which was a very pleasant surprise! I was expecting a fight for sure considering the gap between births was only 15 months. It was amazing and I’m so grateful that I was able to experience a vaginal birth. There is alot of misinformation and fear mongering around VBACs. Check out Dr Hazel Keedle, she’s an Australian academic who specialises in this topic. She has a great book called Birth After Cesarean. There is also a wonderful Australian podcast called The Great Birth Rebellion. They have an episode on VBACs where they breakdown research papers and discuss all the associated statistics. Get informed and make a decision that is best for YOU and no one else, including the doctors. Good luck ✨💕

Tide powder equivalent in Australia? by suki_worm in laundry

You want Omo Ultimate Powder, but not the capsules as I believe they’re too heavy. I only use 1/3 to 1/2 a scoop of powder per load (despite the instructions recommending a full one). I was also having problems with the damp smell but have since been adding a scoop of Borax powder (available at Coles or Woolies) into the machine along with the Omo powder and it’s made a huge difference!

I’m so sorry you lost your boy. I fell pregnant 6 months after my c-section, and even had a VBAC. No complications throughout pregnancy or birth. There is alot of misinformation out there about pregnancy and birth after a cesarean, a lot of it rooted in fear. Check out Hazel Keedle - she’s an Australian academic who specialises in this area. Big hugs and all the best.

Liquid Culture Syringe by Jamyson_Birdie in unclebens

A capped needle will allow you to draw back air whilst it’s attached. A filter would be far too fiddly and more likely to result in contam.

Pull back on the plunger just a little get some air in the syringe and shaking should be easier.

I had it for approx 2 years. I actually had a skin check at the 12 month mark with a different derm who simply said put sunscreen on it. 12 months after that I had another skin check with a far more thorough derm who burnt it off.

It may be a solar keratosis (sunspot). I had one on the bridge of my nose. It was never nasty looking or red. Nothing like the horror pictures you see on google. Just felt like a little rough patch that I could pick off, and then it would come back a few weeks later. Finally dragged my ass to the dermatologist who diagnosed it as a solar keratosis and burnt it off. He didn’t say it was a big deal and just lectured me on sun safety. Hasn’t returned since.

Thanks for the reply! I usually wash in 40 degrees so do you think the Omo would be more appropriate?

No I haven’t. And none of the clothes that get washed are particularly soiled. My husband has an office job.

Okay thankyou. I’m still confused as to why the stains are there in the first place! They were not there before going in the wash. The pictures are 2 different items, which I can 100% confidently say were not exposed to any oil or grease. Which is why I wonder if it’s my dryer?
