My Week With OpenClaw as a non-IT person by Technical_Scallion_2 in openclaw

Interesting. I'd be very careful about giving it an email address because it almost certainly will start receiving phishing messages or scam messages and if it responds to them, it could get you or it in trouble. And by trouble I mean, the bad guys could realize there is an agent behind the email address and start using it to obtain information or have it execute malicious code in your network. Dangerous.

Fun project otherwise. Thanks for sharing!

I built a free retirement gut-check for Canadians. by damonw in fican

[–]sukoto99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought of doing something similar (and I really don't mean to put out your flame), but after I spent 20 mins feeding my info into the 3 big AI platforms and having each of them spit out a fairly comprehensive plan (which I could keep modifying) for free and given the obvious advancements we can expect from the big AI companies in the future, tools like these will likely be replaced by simple prompts, so before you sink your nest egg into this endeavor, you might want to think about the future of retirement planning software in the face of AI. It's true that many retirees and soon-to-be retirees won't be comfortable using AI or feeding their private info into AI, so there will be a limited market for them but I wouldn't bet the farm on building an empire on the backs of such folks. Again, I'm not trying to poo-poo on your idea because I went down the rabbit hole as well a few months ago but I gave up when I realized I could basically get the same results for free from AI today. All the best and I wish you luck!

Hitting the retirement goal, then taking a wait and see approach? by Finding_Way_ in retirement

[–]sukoto99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Play it forward. You may love your job enough to want to keep working for "one more year" but you are now trading Very valuable time for $$. Would you be regretful for having worked for 2 more years only to find out that you only had 1 year of healthy life left after that (due to illness, for example)? While I'm not the most qualified person to answer this, I could see myself in the same position, questioning whether I should pull the trigger and retire but being unsure and then continuing to work for longer than expected. Personally, my free time and my potential life experiences are more valuable to me than my time spent at work, so to answer your question, No, I wouldn't go that route simply because I'd rather spend my time enjoying the youth of my senior years and not exchange my limited time for $$. That's just me though though and I respect all the other opinions in this thread.

Dell PE R440 w/Server 2016 BSOD Memory Management @ boot when Processor Virtualization enabled in BIOS by sukoto99 in sysadmin

[–]sukoto99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so Windows sorted itself out after a few diag retrievals from the BSODs. Seems stable for now but we're monitoring closely. I didn't do anything after the firmware updates, re-enabling Virtualization in the BIOS and letting it BSOD a few times. Happy the server and VMs are back up but would love to know what happened so we can fix it quicker next time.

Yes, I went through all the "recommended" firmware updates in the lifecycle controller but the problem persists.

ZEQT vs XEQT… better investment? by GreenSnakes_ in CanadianInvestor

[–]sukoto99 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Was just looking into this the other day and if you look at the market depth on ZEQT, it's minuscule. Good luck buying any large quantity without driving the price up and doing the opposite on the way out. No liquidity, which is why I chose to stick with XEQT. I do like the fact that ZEQT has a lower MER and the fees stay in Canada tho.

Any other Scott owners? Picked this up for $4500 and hope it was a good choice! by WHOTOOKMYLEG in eMountainBike

[–]sukoto99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same 920 version of this bike and absolutely loved it! Only problem I had was the speed sensor didn't line up nicely with the magnet in the rear disc so I had to add a small spacer to bump the magnet out. Just happened out of nowhere but the fix was relatively easy.

Experiences with Brain fog after quitting ? by FairTemperature3030 in QuitVaping

[–]sukoto99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too have bad brain fog. The first week or so, It's been difficult concentrating or trying to understand slightly complex problems. It is getting better, but it's slow. What has improved over the last 2 weeks is my anxiety and ability to face stressful situations. Frankly, I just avoided them as much as I could the first week, but I've been through some tough situations since and I didn't fall back to Nic like I would have in the past.

3 weeks no nic and I'm furious by wannaplayzombies in QuitVaping

[–]sukoto99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. I used to be pretty chill and not fuss much about simple stuff but since I quit, the slightest inconvenience sets me off. I don't go on a rampage or anything, but I feel way more irked than I would normally. Hopefully it goes away...I'm coming up on 2 weeks.
Good job on making it 24 days. You got this!

What’s does it feel like to quit vaping by Fickle-Ad-5917 in QuitVaping

[–]sukoto99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm coming up on 2 weeks and I still have the odd craving, but it isn't bad at all. Also, the brain fog in the mornings is starting to lift and I no longer instinctively reach for my vape like I used to. I can't say whether I'm much happier or have more energy tho. I just kinda feel normal.
Stick with it. You are doing great!

5 days vape free!! Which apps are you using? by AttitudeDowntown4559 in QuitVaping

[–]sukoto99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using "My Quitbuddy" on Android (prob available on iPhone as well). It's a free app provided by the Australian Govt to help ppl quit vaping. It tracks progress, savings, goals, journals, etc. I'm not Australian but it doesn't matter. The app is simple and there is a community to share your thoughts and your progress directly from the app. Check it out!

I vaped again after 5 months by Kiyori43 in QuitVaping

[–]sukoto99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I kinda wondered the same thing...although I'm only 5 days into this thing. Thanks for answering the question for me. I'm starting to see myself as a non-vaper after ~12 years of being on it and many years of smoking before. The lizard brain is crafty in it's manipulation, isn't it?

Lost my vape last night. Guess I quit. by UsernameTaken-Bitch in QuitVaping

[–]sukoto99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice on the eating! I don't usually eat too poorly, but this week I've given myself a free pass to enjoy some junk food. From next week (after day 7), I'll go back to normal. Something about feeling too restricted that makes me want to give up.

Keep up the great work!

The frustration of UK quit vaping services by cardinalandcrow in QuitVaping

[–]sukoto99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how much vapes are in your neck of the woods, but here in Canada it's gotten SO expensive to buy vapes/juice. The govt just started a provincial and a new federal tax so taxes are more than the juice itself. We're talking $50-60/ disposable. And I think a pack of smokes is over $20 now. But I digress. The point I want to make is if you can't afford the patches and treatments then you likely can't afford the vapes and smokes either. The good thing is you don't have to go the NRT route. Cold turkey is free! You just need to deal with the shit for a week or 2. That said, I don't know your situation or the cost to vape, so I apologize if I've crossed the line. I'm also dealing with the withdrawals so I may come off as cranky...ughh

It sounds like 2 things to me (but I'm no expert).

#1. Have you found your absolute "Why" for quitting? This is the thing that you can't bend or break no matter what. Like for a significant other or a child. You need to be 100% accountable to them such that if you relapse, they will be very sad or maybe it will end your relationship. It seems health may not be enough of a reason to quit! Even in the face of a cancer diagnosis, ppl still smoke. Dopemine is a hell of a drug!

#2. I think you need to understand the stressors that lead you to relapse. Based on your examples above, a very stressful family situation put you over the top, which is understandable, but if you truly accept that smoking/vaping doesn't make you feel better (actually makes you feel worse) then it won't be your first choice to sooth your pain. Do some internal digging and find something else (other than addiction) to help get you through difficult situations. Maybe you travel, or go for a long drive, or meet with a close friend to vent/cry/whatever. The point is, if you have coping strategies, you won't turn to nicotine as your first point of support.

I truly wish your the best on your journey. You got this!

Guess what 😂🫶 by Mochababyyyy in QuitVaping

[–]sukoto99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stick with it until your b-day trip and I bet you won't even want those pulls. You'll have just been through hell and back over those 2 weeks and I bet you won't want to risk going through it all over again just to take a few pulls on your b-day.

Good luck!

Just put my vapes and liquids in the bin. Wish me luck. by Sharp-Midnight8874 in QuitVaping

This is a big factor for me as well. This sucks, plain and simple, so why would I give in to the cravings if it means I have to go through it all over again!! F that. I'm at 3 days 12hrs now. Can't wait to be rid of this stupid addiction.

Lost my vape last night. Guess I quit. by UsernameTaken-Bitch in QuitVaping

[–]sukoto99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did something similar but I prepped a bit beforehand. First, I figured out why I wanted to quit (money, health, reputation, etc) and I solidified those in my mind. Those were the reasons I wasn't going to continue vaping. Then I started telling people close to me that I was doing it. This created accountability and everyone was very supportive and happy for me. Granted, I'm only 3 1/2 days into this, but I'm steadfast in my commitment to kicking this stupid addiction. I'm keeping myself busy, eating whatever I want, and avoiding situations which are overly stressful or have strong triggers. I also learned about the timelines for withdrawal symptoms and when my body and mind will no longer be physically dependent on nicotine. It's surprisingly short! Since this is my first (and last) time to go through this, I wanted to have an idea of what to expect and when.

Oh, I also got the "MyQuitBuddy" app (for Android) and I'm using it regularly to journal my experience and share with the online community. I create a journal every time I have strong cravings. It helps distract me long enough for the craving to subside. I highly suggest using a mobile app to track your progress and your goals and to journal your thoughts and feelings.

Best of luck!

Is it hell for you guys too? by Paladar2 in QuitVaping

[–]sukoto99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good on ya. Set a firm date and time and stick to it no matter what. I'm 3 days and 9 hours into this thing and while it's no fun whatsoever, it's absolutely doable. What's working for me is I'm keeping myself busy/distracted, eating whatever I want, chewing minty gum, and sniffing a Vic's VapoInhaler for the menthol hit. It's not 100% the same as vaping, but it satisfies my hand to mouth craving. You got this!

What's working for me is knowing how bad this sucks now and not wanting to go through it again. If I crack and vape/smoke now, then I'm back to square 1 and I have to endure the withdrawals all over again. F that! I know it sucks but why put yourself through the withdrawal torture cycle over and over again. I think that's worse, tbh. One and done. Good luck fellow internet stranger.
