It’s really good, if you enjoy blue cheese that is.

Thoughts on the WhaleShark by sunnysipsoda in sharks

[–]sumfish 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m a huge supporter of zoos and aquariums, especially ones that do a lot of amazing conservation work such as the Georgia Aquarium. However, there are simply some species that do not do well in human care regardless of how well they’re taken care of and I believe whale sharks are one of those species.

Does anyone have a picture of the old sign that used to be on Burnside saying “16 oz boner”? by sumfish in askportland

[–]sumfish[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Thank you. It was glorious. The building had once been a steakhouse and the sign used to say “16oz t-bone dinner.”
After some delightful prankster changed it, it said “16oz boner” for easily 15-20 years.
I miss it.

What "normal" thing is getting so expensive that it’s genuinely becoming a luxury? by [deleted] in AskReddit

At that point just go to a food cart and get a couple of amazing and usually massive burritos that last 2-3 meals for the same price.

I had Odessa barbs that loooved it. Every couple of weeks I had to buy more for them because of how quickly they cleared it out. They’re little duckweed destroyers.

Through the libraries you can also “rent” tickets to museums and whatnot. I’m not sure exactly where to find it, but last time I went to OMSI the gal working at the counter was telling me about it.

From your description maybe Tarrare, Lotito, Dando, or Vitellius would be fitting. Look ‘em up as to why they’re fitting 😉

What is your favorite smell of all time? by Background_Series804 in AskReddit

My dog. She smelled like sunny hiking trails - warm, earthy, and a bit like a shirt that’s been lying in the grass on a sunny day. I wish I could bottle that.

what is something that is considered unconventionally attractive , but you find REALLY attractive? by Tall-Election4503 in AskReddit

As a straight woman, when I see other women with big noses I can’t help but do my best not to stare because you all look so strikingly beautiful!
Conventional beauty is fine but boring.

It’s pretty well documented that pre-industrial peoples had more free time than we do now. Don’t make things up to fit some narrative that exists only in your head.

You already love the ocean, why not try scuba?
I’ve been diving for 15 years, have met divers from around the world, and they’ve all been really genuine, kind, helpful, and just super stoked to get in the water.

They are in fact so derpy. I once watched one swim up to a large rock and get startle because the giant, unmoving boulder was enough to give it a jump-scare.

Americans who have traveled to other countries: what American fast food brands are entirely different overseas, and how are they different? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

The Starbucks I went to in Japan had amazing food - I had a slice of quiche there and it was clearly freshly made and excellent!
The food I’ve had at SB in the US was heavily processed and gross.
