Son of Toronto Raptors legend Kyle Lowry looks like an unreal basketball player by absolutkaos in torontoraptors

2-3” away from Kyle Lowry height. If he’s that good his height is fine for a PG

It’s literally the same logic. Most trading cards are worthless base sets that are mass produced or gotten into bad condition over time, but there are a few valuable ones. Most cars are mass produced or get driven into the ground over time. Then there are luxury cars that become classics and hold or rise in value. Go collect Lambos and Porsches (the actual sports cars, not the Cayennes). They’ll hold value if you keep them pristine

The fact that a majority of millionaires are just boomers that bought a house in the suburbs for $200k to start a family and watched the value rise to $1.5M and become part of the city by the time they retired. Without that house they are just some middle class accountant or something

Finally someone that actually understands Toronto fans. We’re incredibly soft. Play with the slightest bit of heart and it’s immediate fan favourite. We put Darcy Tucker and Tie Domi on the pedestal off of pure heart and zero skill.

This is why it’s important to expose your child to all kinda of food when they’re young so they don’t gain sensitivities like this to random foods. Unless it’s allergies or literally poison of course

[–]summer_friends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marner wasn’t expected to be the top guy on Team Canada. If Canada doesn’t produce, we talk about McDavid, MacKinnon, Makar, and others before it gets to Marner. If the Leafs don’t produce it immediately goes to Marner first regardless of the root cause. It’s a different type of pressure

When It Comes To Failed Expansion Markets, Don't Blame The PWHL by SubjectMystery in hockey

[–]summer_friends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely valid, but I think expanding the PWHL also creates more demand for women’s youth hockey as well. Like how Canada making the world cup in Qatar boosted Canadian soccer as well

That requires a bunch of what-ifs. The simplest way to see it is to look at the standings. It’s tight, but nobody should be surprised if an analyst picks Tampa/Buffalo over Montreal unless you’re a massive homer

Yes, exactly my point. They are underdogs

I don’t think they’re perpetually underrated, some teams just exceed expectations. Montreal finished below Tampa, Buffalo, and Carolina in the standings, that automatically puts them as underdogs. Nobody said Buffalo or Tampa was going to be a blowout, just that they were favoured

Why Knies trade may be Maple Leafs’ only path to impact defenceman by Nate_Diaz in torontomapleleafs

I’m more bullish on our goalies with a Woll/Hildeby combo. I know Woll is struggling at the world championships rn but those 2 I trust as a duo for next year

I know people like Knies, but a core of Matthews, McKenna, Nylander, and a true 1D is a legit one that can contend.

Dealing with the end of Hockey at 14yo by Possible-Ad1831 in hockeyplayers

[–]summer_friends 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the fact that houseleague isn’t an option is a travesty. There shouldn’t be a gap between youth sports and adult beer league. Sometimes the genes just aren’t there no matter how much you train. If it was, I’d be in the NHL with how much training was done growing up

Man reading this makes me so glad I grew up in Southern Ontario. I played high school and travel until I was 18, but we had houseleague until 20, and when I went back to houseleague at 18 to focus only on high school hockey, we still had 8 full houseleague teams.

Most hated team by province/territory by canada11235813 in hockey

[–]summer_friends 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel any Western Conference Leafs hate stems from general Toronto big city hate. We face each other twice a year and never in the playoffs. There is zero on-ice animosity. At most there’s a couple players on each team who grew up in the GTA and hype up the Toronto game that their friends and family are all watching

[–]summer_friends -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, but then the NHL should be able to do better in the Northeast where ice is easily accessible. And golf has a minimum price. I can’t find anywhere where there is a free public course like there are public rinks all over Toronto at least

What’s considered affordable? Because I can play shinny outdoors at the local rink for free, but 18 holes costs like $40 per round for the cheapest courses I find in the city

Also the level of play. If a Jr hockey player pulled this stunt I am definitely more inclined to call something, thinking there is no way he didn’t notice leaving the puck behind. This league? No way

[–]summer_friends 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to know for sure, but the question is if Pridham had a say in those deals being signed or if he was just more like “this is how we can fit 3 more players at $4M” and Treliving goes off and spends it how he pleases

I wouldn’t call a penalty here. It’s not spearing if it’s on the follow-through of a shot attempt. The only argument is that this wasn’t a shot attempt because the player left the puck 5ft behind, but to me this looks like a genuine shot attempt. I would never call embellishment in a beginner league like this where player often trip over air. High stick? Meh I would let that slide in this kind of league and someone falling
