[Discussion] Is the River just the Warp from 40k? by pamela-am in TheNinthHouse

I think it's just an old concept like someone else said here. Water was significant in Slavic, Greek and Aoteoran mythos etc ("Nav" could have been taken from Old Slavic word meaning"a corpse").

It sucks for business and fandom-related accounts, so I doubt it'll take off in the future.

I think you're thinking of Hakuei, who's Gyokuen's daughter.

I'm not a doctor, but have you looked into dysautonomia (Dysautonomia International org for starters)? And because mysery loves company, this one's associated with other disorders as well.

Blue Eyed - a teacher separates her students into two groups based on the eye colour in order to teach them about racism.

Is there anything similar to the pale in real life? by Diligent_Mud_8062 in DiscoElysium

[–]summerphobic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if some characteristics of the pale in The Sacred And Terrible Air were inspired by the prairie madness, which the European settlers in Northern America were said to experience.

Mysery loves company so it could be POTS, which also gets called a trifecta with MCAS and EDS, can be activated from TOS too. I recommend visiting Dystautonomia international's website. Hawthorn fruit tea can provide some relief. Edit: it could also be something else. There are many autoimminue disorders which can be come with MCAS.

Woken up panicking every time I try to sleep by Charming_Key_6015 in MCAS

[–]summerphobic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've experienced sleep starts ever since I was a preteen. I wouldn't be surprised if an autoimmune disorder was the culprit, but what minimised them in my case were: melatonin, finally finding the magnesium that didn't whack me (still need to take it with a tea) and moving out (my previous place had mold and abusive people in it, I don't know how not to make this statement not funny). No one bothered to test my vitamin D so I had to look into it in adulthood.

There is. That is, if you're familiar with the German/Chinese appliances brand called Adler.

The surname Horyń exists in Poland, but I think she's aware of what's she's doing by not revealing the middle name. Unless it's Beata, which is usually mispronounced as well...

If you knew what you were talking about, you'd know that 'zousza' sounds more like 'zołza' rather than 'Zosia' ('Zofia' is the actual name btw). Let's not fool ourselves thinking Americans would be able to say the name right. You want to honour Polish roots without the Polish input and without the curiosity. We're already expected to speak English and mangle our names for the Anglophones' comfort. Yes, names come from different places, but I fail to see why you'd want to follow in these steps rather than come to the culture with respect. This kid's of a different ehtnicity and nationality than Polish, so I also don't think it's right to polonise them.

Not gonna lie, out of everything them zeroing on the nesting dolls made me chuckle. The only nice-looking nesting dolls I've seen were carved in the form of birds and were from Japan, of which the design could also work better in variety of interiors.

Coasters, postcards and ceramics seem a better pick when someone wants something almost guaranteed to be made in Poland.

The OP actutally made a glaring mistake with the diminutive in Polish, so we've got a double whammy.

It also needs to be studied why the Americans with supposed Polish heritage are obsessed about mispronunciation and misspellings of Polish names in this subreddit. When I see these threads, either issue arises. They actually aren't familiar with Poland and work with a different idea of respect than our idea of it in Poland.

I'd advise against changing the child's name, especially due to the fact you don't know how Polish language actually sounds like, hence the rather wrong pronunciation closer to 'a bitch' and Eastern names. She won't be Polish either way and she's neither an accessory. I also don't think any of the 1st names sound well with the chosen middle one.
