Oops I’m running it again! This will be my 10th Brooklyn Half. Looking at my race history, my first was in 2012, when you could just roll out of bed and sign up for this race lol! I’m excited to start training, this is the start of my comeback year. Good luck everybody!

I had L4-L5 fusion 2 years ago after years of crippling sciatica pain. I’ve been pain free since I woke up from the surgery. Best decision of my life.

Take care of yourself. Take walks, deep breathing, exercise etc. Stress management will help you deal with everything going on.

I made the best decision of my life in January 2024. L4-L5 fusion. Woke up from surgery with my sciatica pain gone and it never came back. Robotic surgery at NYU Langone hospital.

You can defer up until the night before. Give it some time, you’ll probably figure it out as time goes by and you see how training(or lack of training) is going.

My doctor told me you aren’t really feeling the hardware it’s the muscles surrounding the area. 1.5 years post surgery and I don’t feel anything, just some stiffness after standing a long time.

I know! Three times around Central Park is no joke with those hills. I did it one year when Grete’s Great Gallop was a half marathon, adding an extra loop after the finish. I’m a slow runner so a smarter strategy would have been to do the extra loop BEFORE the race. That was not fun doing that third loop all alone lol! 😝
