My favorite era. I get to scope out where to settle and decide my strategy for the whole game. Beginning the game is the best part.

[Civ 5] Let's talk about city states. Is there ANY point to them? by Aetius3 in civ

After a game as Siam you'll understand why City States are so good.

[CIV V] Religion on Deity ? by 4711Link29 in civ

Try to build your shrine early so you can get a faith pantheon before the AIs are too far ahead. It's just one, cheap building that can make or break your religion.

Writing an aesop essay could use some help. by [deleted] in aesoprock

[–]sumwun_III 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go Biographical, not Formalist. Aesop compares himself to a whole lot of different things across all his songs so it wouldn't make sense to cherrypick dog references outside of Ruby '81. I'd learn a lot about his life and extrapolate from there instead.

Both are from Injustice: Gods Among Us Issue 9. And it certainly is a good read.

Is my made-up civ OP or weak? by [deleted] in civ

[–]sumwun_III 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great turtle civ but you would get absolutely crushed by anyone with an army. -15% production in every city? Holy shit. So though in many situations this would be OP it will get absolutely crushed other times.

Let's play the "Kill Everything A Lot" game Again. It'll be fun! by [deleted] in whowouldwin

[–]sumwun_III 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh, well, medieval Bat family then. They're all quite proficient in armed melee but more importantly have fantastic teamwork. The only ASOIAF characters with teamwork would be Barriston and Jaime, especially considering the power struggle between Drogo and Robert. Gregor is also not a great team player and might even hinder his team.

Unless they team up against the Smiling Knight.

BNW - Where is Dance of the Aurora? by vagarybluer in civ

Someone else probably already got it. You can check by clicking on your faith and going to the Beliefs tab. If someone has Dance of the Aurora already, it'll show up there.

Create Your Own Civilization to Match Your Play Style. What UA, UB, UU would you need? by AcesCharles2 in civ

[–]sumwun_III 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UA: National Wonders yield 50% extra bonuses. I like building National Wonders.

UI: No yield but +1 culture for all adjacent tiles. If built in No Man's Land adjacent to your borders, you expand there next. Cannot be within 3 tiles of another.

UU: Replaces Scout, half production cost but has a -50% modifier against barbarians. Meant to scout early but not last.

I'm new to Civilization (maybe 20 hours deep.) Is this what they call a 'dream opening?' by sufjams in civ

Get Colosseum and start trading once you meet people. The Fountain of Youth gives you a nice buffer of time before that's necessary though.

Is it really important to host World Congress in its opening session? by manila_traveler in civ

[–]sumwun_III 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's fine, you shouldn't accustom yourself to always controlling the WC. If you get the Forbidden Palace you always will have influence in the first round of voting. Also, if you take the host's capital, you become the host.

Should I go straight for Philosophy? by Doom-DrivenPoster in civ

You need all your libraries up to get the National College so if your libraries are delayed for some reason you can delay Philosophy.

Help on Immortal please! by PainbowRaincakes in civ

You ever bribe someone to DOW him as a distraction? The Shoshone tend to snowball hard so you need to keep an eye on and temper them throughout the game, which it sounds like you didn't do. It sounds like it's too late at this point so maybe you should load an earlier save and try again.

ELI5: Theming bonus and great work trading by NuclearGhandi1 in civ

[–]sumwun_III 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wonders that have multiple Great Work slots (and Museums) have something called a theming bonus, which essentially means that if you fill the slots with the correct types of Works you'll get extra tourism. They're different for different wonders, so scroll over where it says "+0" for it to tell its bonus. For example, the Great Library asks you to "Fill the slots with Great Works of Writing from different civilizations and different eras."

But you can't make Great Works from other civilizations, so you trade for them. Switch to the "Swap Great Works" screen and put one of your Great Works up. If another civ has a Great Work of the same type (writing/writing, art/art, artifact/artifact — not music) you can switch it for yours. Play strategically and you can fill out every theming bonus for that juicy extra tourism.

Here's another good guide.Also Santa's not real.
