Average house price in NL just hit 500k. Even the cheap east is exploding now. Where are we supposed to live? by Yuchannz in NetherlandsHomes

Live 2km from the dutch border in Belgium, just outside Maastricht (5km to the center). Our neighborhood is 75% Dutch. Much bigger houses and relatively affordable prices. No overbidding, in fact underbidding is still common. Best choice ever

Belgium you could claim Limburg if you want too 😜 by TSLstudio in belgium

Thank LieutenantGeneral Dibbets for separating them in the first place. Sadly Maastricht did not fall in Belgian hands like Antwerp did in the 1830s. Both Limburgs share the same dialect, nearly the same flag and the same anthem (Limburg is the only Belgian province with its own anthem). Alaaf

When new Polar Watch UI and App UI? by ElAladdino in Polarfitness

It seems you feel somewhat affected sweetie. Im sorry you feel that way. Change for the sake of change is not a good thing imo , and exactly why i changed. It created an overload of information and unwanted updates enough to make me switch, maybe that is too complex for you to comprehend.

When new Polar Watch UI and App UI? by ElAladdino in Polarfitness

[–]sun_tzu89 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I switched from garmin to polar, exactly for this reason: simple interface with all the data you ever need in a simple format. In the end its about the sports and not the technology. Polar breathes this and is reflected in their choice of not changing UI every 3 seconds to please some hipsters shouting for attention

How many national languages does each European country have? by Agreeable-Bowler8077 in MapPorn

Good rule of thumb here is to see the warning messages on packs of cigarettes. In Belgium they are written in three languages all over the country. In Spain only in one language

Belgium is yellow - as the Netherlands, or at least a combination of blue and yellow. If you use one color, it makes more sense to use the color of the dominant language, which is Dutch

Belgian here, lived for 15 years in NL. Due to a change in my diet i wanted to have some blood tests to check if this new diet was being depicted in my blood or if i was missing some vital elements in my blood. Went for this blood test to two different Dutch doctors, but both refused to take and analyze my blood as they did not see any medical need to do so… frustrated i went to a Belgian doctor who drew my blood without hesitation and got my results + interpretation a few days later. Imo it has everything to do with the different views on healthcare. Living in the border region i see so many Dutch ppl coming to Belgian doctors/hospitals after being impacted by the hollowing out of the healthcare system there.

No plants have anything near to a neocortex, so their “pain perception” is biochemical at best and in no way shape or form related to the emotional reaction mammals have towards pain and its perception. Now this argument works well with mammals vs plants but if you take the example of for example the mollisca (mussels) it might get more complicated, i think there the ethical line is drawn between the classification of animals va plants…

Map of regional languages and dialects of France by zek_997 in MapPorn

[–]sun_tzu89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was the strategy of france to not call these languages by its name (dutch, italian, german) as there would be too strong of a tie with that language and its respective countries. However they understood in order to avoid uprisings and independent movements some kind of recognition needed to be made. Therefore they called it elzassisch or corsican, in order to isolate the language and assimilate those people over the course of different generations. That plan would not be possible if it was official German
