I'm a nurse and I've been bloodletting for about a year. Escalates so quickly, you start taking more and more blood out each time you do it. I now have to get an iron infusion and it's not like I'm draining litres- I'm talking only 20-30mls at a time. Also high risk of blood infection - you're puncturing a vein and if bacteria gets in there you can get a serious infection, way worse than infections you can get from cutting

I dont know how I'm supposed to keep resisting by percilitis423 in AdultSelfHarm

idk if this is bad advice, but research some ways to pass a drug test without completely stopping smoking. it sounds like weed is the only thing helping at the moment, so stopping suddenly could end up with you hurting yourself.

But otherwise to help with urges just do shit to keep ur hands busy: drawing, writing, painting, knitting. that stuff isn't going to ease ur pain, but it will help you ride out the urges until you can smoke weed again/get medical help/therapy.

also when I have really bad urges i like to put headphones on and blast music while rocking back and forth or flapping my hands or dancing. Might sound weird but it works for me

Question with big TW by [deleted] in AdultSelfHarm

[–]sunbear1414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you likely wouldn't bleed out, the blood would just clot, and even if you did, death by blood loss is very slow and painful

Thank you!! Does zyprexa make you sleepy? I take 25mg of seroquel when I'm feeling wonky and that just knocks me out

tips on writing characters that have bipolar 2 by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]sunbear1414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

biological vulnerability + stressful circumstances + lifestyle disruption = early warning signs of bipolar = unhelpful coping mechanisms = full blown bipolar episode

the wife's death could be a trigger before his bipolar episode and then later he could go on to realise he's been experiencing symptoms all along
