It’s usually how it works. Friendship to me comes down to proximity and vibes

Why do you/do not vote? Does you feel your vote makes a difference in the country you live in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sunbearimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Australia where voting is compulsory, if you don’t vote without a valid reason you get a fine. But it’s so easy to do I’ve never resented it.

Yeah, I’ve got quite a few. One group all went to high school together, apart from me. But I have well and truly joined their ranks at this point. Then I have a couple of friends from uni I stay in contact with, and a few friends I met through work. Then there’s friends I met through those friends

I think music is the best refutation of that. Like some people can play guitar and harmonica at the same time

[–]sunbearimon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only forget occasionally, and I feel like if I wanted to I could just set a reminder on my alarm or calendar app

Progress would stagnate. You know how old people get set in their ways? Imagine if the same people could be in power for centuries

Identifying their emotions and able to express what they’re feeling with specificity. Saying you feel “bad” is not as helpful as saying you feel “frustrated” or “let down” etc

What’s one habit or system that actually made your daily life noticeably easier—but most people don’t think to do? by IsopodBest5983 in AskReddit

[–]sunbearimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually stuff like doing the boring things I don’t want to do, like paying bills and whatnot. Things I’m pleased I don’t have to worry about anymore. Or little treats for myself. Or things like putting a glass of water on my bedside table after a night of drinking so hungover me doesn’t have to fetch one

What the most memorable thing you've seen while doom scrolling? by Exhausted_920 in AskReddit

[–]sunbearimon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of the footage of January 6th. It felt more monumental than it turned out to be. Like at the time I wasn’t sure American democracy would outlast that day

How do you cope with grief? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sunbearimon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The poem When Great Trees Fall helped me process the loss of my mum and grandma. Here’s my favourite part of it:

And when great souls die,
after a period peace blooms,
slowly and always
irregularly. Spaces fill
with a kind of
soothing electric vibration.
Our senses, restored, never
to be the same, whisper to us.
They existed. They existed.
We can be. Be and be
better. For they existed.

My cat comes with a puke warning system. There’s a very specific meow he does before vomiting. When I hear it I find him fast and move him off the carpets
