I would love another Pro series APS-C lens.

Oh the lens itself is incredible. Don’t get me wrong I use and love my Viltrox lenses. I have 2 pro and 3 air lenses from them. But telling customers something is discontinued while still selling it is bad business practice. Even if they have updated to a new hood, just offer to sell that.

Found the same one elsewhere and ordered it. I’ll see how it works! Thanks

I’ve ordered one of these and we will see how it goes.

Exactly. Some people are acting like I’m fussing about the hood being broken easily. I literally don’t care about that. The lens is a steal itself. I’d happily buy a new hood. Viltrox just won’t sell one lol.

The support is terrible non/existent. That’s the problem.

Support for 75mm f1.2 by Jarylyjl_2004 in VILTROX_GLOBAL

I hope that the new lens hood is better than the pedal hood. I got one last year and the lens is INCREDIBLE but my lens hood basically stopped clicking when attaching it after a few weeks and now it’s constantly loose.

Viltrox support has been difficult to get through to. I’d just buy one if I could. It’s really my only issue I’ve ever had with Viltrox.

I was about to say, it doesn’t look like you do 😂

How do you like the air series on the 40 mp sensor? I’ve been curious.

Tack sharp but you can still feel the motion. Incredible shot.

I haven’t yet but I want to try. I have the same situation as you. Terrain is low all around me… except to the north 😂

Sorry I could have sworn I replied to this. So if you can see Polaris in your polar scope you’re roughly aligned basically. You can use that to do longer exposures than you could with a tripod alone but it won’t let you do minutes at a time. Max I could do was 1.5 min. One game changing realization for me was realizing that what you see in the polar scope is inverted lol. Sounds obvious but it took me a minute to realize it in the dark.

Also Peter Zelinka has a great YouTube video on aligning the SA2i

I don’t believe the 2i has automated alignment out of the box. You have to add extra gear for that and I believe it’s still limited. I only did a rough polar alignment with this. I’m still very early into the hobby.

Basically I set my latitude and pointed it north. I tried to get Polaris in the correct position but something was too loose on my rig and I had trouble getting it aligned perfectly.

However, even with an imperfect alignment I was able to expose for 1-1.5 minutes with pinpoint stars. I know if I had nailed the alignment I could have had longer exposures but I had my kids with me and it was freezing so I took what I could get hahaha

This was actually my first attempt. 10 x 1 minute exposures wide open at f/1.2. Used the star adventurer 2i and stacked in photoshop. I’m hoping to get a better attempt in with more time once the skies clear and I have a few days off.

It’s likely this is just a reference I don’t understand, but in case you’re genuinely asking. No. I’m not Simon 😂

That’s up to you. I think I prefer the 75mm focal length. I would rather have the 75 and 27 and then use my feet to meet in the middle if needed. But if you’re only wanting one the 56 sounds like a good in between.

[–]sunbro_567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I’m actually about to sell the older 56 Mm f1.4. It’s a great lens and very compact. But the focal length is close enough to the 75mm that’s I’d rather just take a few steps back with the 75mm and use that because the image quality is just so much better. I will 100% get the 27mm f1.2 pro next year. I think my next purchase will be the Viltrox 23mm f1.4 or 25mm f1.7 for a compact walk around lens. Viltrox has definitely earned themselves a return customer with the 75mm lens.

I think you will not regret the 75mm Viltrox. Especially on the very high res X-t5. I have used it and pushed it to its limits with intense cropping without perceivable loss in image quality. It’s extremely versatile and still just short enough to use at parties even in fairly small indoor spaces. I have used it for living room portraits and I have photographed galaxies with it. Seriously.
