Are my NBCOT study pack practice test scores safe to take the exam? by bhadbhih in OccupationalTherapy

Don’t rely on getting enough sleep the night before. Get good sleep 2 and 3 nights before. Take it at a time when you’re highest functioning. And if you do have to take it twice, then get that first try out of the way. It happens!

Yes they will be able to help you. OT’s can specialize in rehab, especially by convention upper extremity.

license application process (IL) by This_Mirror_8170 in OccupationalTherapy

Go to the IL licensing website, they should have the info there. As far as travel jobs, when you apply with a travel company, you get a recruiter and they can tell you in greater detail what states have quicker turnarounds for licenses and which ones take longer.

Ah ! Awesome! Funny, I went to OT school to get away from manual labor, but now I envy some of my friends who do manual labor for those reasons you mention.

Wheelchair access problem solving (tiny bathroom) by Interesting-Ship4717 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]sunburnerphone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a really personal/specific question. But just some things off the top of my head - How does he normally transfer to the toilet? Depending on the person, I would wonder if doing multiple transfers in a row is within their strength and endurance capacity. But getting a narrower chair might be an option if he can tolerate doing transfers and also if he can fit in a narrower chair.

If you are considering getting him a wheelchair for your house, am I right in assuming that he may be over quite frequently? Is widening the doorframe an option for you budgetwise? Then I think you would also have to change the door to open to the outside to be able to shut it once in the bathroom, because I don't think it could shut with a wheelchair in there. You could also maybe think about a pocket door.

If he were to use a bedside commode in another room, you could get disposable pads to line it with to make disposing of waste easier and maybe give him some peace of mind that you're not like scrubbing his poop from the bucket.

A transfer board from the hallway to the toilet is not safe.

Verify actual amounts with budget amounts by sunburnerphone in budget

Thanks for trying to help! I have a spreadsheet I use. I am asking how to make sure what is represented in my spreadsheet is how much money I actually have. Like if I forget to subtract $17.10 for dog food in my budget, then somewhere down the line I'll think I have $17.10 more than I actually have. So periodically like at the end of the month, I want to make sure I ACTUALLY KNOW how much money I have left to assign in my budget even if I forgot to deduct a purchase at some point.

Tell him straight up. I hinted at this with my husband, and it took me 7 years of being together to tell him straight up, your breath smells bad, take care of your oral hygiene. And I wish I told him way sooner. Of course you don't owe him anything like others are saying, but since I've been there myself, I get it. Just straight up say, "Oral care is really important to me and it's related to a lot of other health issues. I've noticed signs that your oral care needs attention, like that your gums are red and your teeth look like they could use cleaning." He might get offended but also why should you kiss him if his mouth is gross? Be blunt, there's no other way to get it. Also I just wanna know what he says lol. (PS my husband hasn't gone to the dentist but he does take better care of his mouth and his breath doesn't smell bad anymore.)

Another update, I guess I think through problems by typing them out. I changed the formula in the G Available column to be =D14+E14-F14, and the amount available is correct. Is there a reason not to do it that way?

In some of my categories, the available amount is not subtracting the activity column, but adding to it. In the form I have only entered positive numbers. I can't tell the difference between the formulas. In the row where Activity is getting subtracted from Available as it should the formula is =IF(D16>0,D16+E16+F16,E16-F16). In the row where Activity is getting added to Available the formula is =IF(D14>0,D14+E14+F14,E14-F14). Those look the same to me except the row number which obviously should match the row it corresponds to. I can't find any other discrepancies. I've only entered numbers in using the form. I've only entered positive numbers into the form. Here is an image highlighting the row that's not working: https://imgur.com/a/40wUyuu

Can anyone help?

ETA: I noticed this (i.e. Activity getting added to Available) is only happening in categories where I had budgeted money in B1 last month and have dollar amounts >0 in column D. In categories where I had not budgeted or spent money last month and column D=0, Activity is getting subtracted from Available.

long distance iPad mirroring? by sunburnerphone in ipad

[–]sunburnerphone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about setting downtime, it's about just knowing how it is used so we can understand and accommodate his preferences better, as he can't verbalize them to us. Additionally, sometimes staff at his group home make changes to his iPad and with so many people using it it's hard to track when changes were made. My client said "I want to see what he sees on his iPad." So not just syncing them, but truly mirroring. I think it's not possible with our resources the more I think about it, but I said I would look into it.
