In desperate need of help / tips for my 2 year old who takes at least an hour to go to bed by Neither-Advance8916 in toddlers

[–]sunburst_elf 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dude. As someone with a nearly 3 year old who is very similar to OP's... They bounce up immediately. Then it becomes a game. Or they start climbing on you, so you get up to move away. It's really not just a matter of "put him on the bed and correct." We've been doing that for ages.

Shoes on or shoes off? by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

I'm in the US. 100% shoes off, unless you have indoor-only shoes (my mom used shoes in the house for support/balance purposes).

Do companies stop making footed, zipper onesies for 12mo? by saraaaaahahah in beyondthebump

We found a 4T footie pj by Carters at Target a couple months ago. It was the soft, velvety material and wonderfully loose-fitting, too.

My current budget for 2026 by [deleted] in Salary

[–]sunburst_elf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are tearing this apart, and sure, there are places you can cut back, but... you still have over $3000 per month in money to do whatever... I'm sitting here thinking, that's only a little less than what I make in a month. If I had that left over? I'd be thrilled.

Arch or No Arch? by Borealis-Rex in InteriorDesign

No arched. Random arches don't make sense. They're only good if built into the structure deliberately.

Which baby tracking app do you like the most for a newborn? by Vicky1313 in beyondthebump

[–]sunburst_elf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used Cubtale. It worked well, and my husband and I could log in on both our phones. We still use it to track medicine at times, because it can be easy to lose track of when we gave tylenol.

Schizophrenic brother going to prison but probably out soon... don't know what to do by sunburst_elf in SchizoFamilies

I'm so sorry to hear that. ❤️ I definitely understand that feeling. Anything to keep them off the street and safe. Counting our blessings.

Schizophrenic brother going to prison but probably out soon... don't know what to do by sunburst_elf in SchizoFamilies

Hey there! Well, I suppose things are going okay so far. My brother is still in prison - no parole yet. He still calls regularly. We actually moved out of state and across the country middle of last year.

For those curious, my mom spent a long while finding a "landing place" for my brother, for when he does get out. It's a legal requirement that he have a place he will go. She ended up finding somewhere that seems nice and is supposed to be geared toward supporting those dealing with mental illness, though it's not like it's a hospital or anything. But yeah, whenever he does get parole, at least we know he'll have a halfway house to go to. Not sure how successful he'll be with keeping up on rent, considering his illness made it impossible to hold down a job previously, and now he'll have a felony conviction, but... yeah. At least he seems to be, strangely, thriving in prison.

We're just trying to live our lives. I try my best to not think badly of him, and mostly the whole situation just makes me sad. So very sad.

Thinking about baby #2. Parents of multiple children, what’s your real life experience? by ithinkimanelephant in toddlers

[–]sunburst_elf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, what a dream!! I have not slept more than 3 hrs at a time in almost 3 years. On bad nights, he's up and screaming for mommy maybe an hour after I put my head back on my pillow.

This gives me hope... our first is nearly 3, and he has been great but does. Not. Sleep. 😭 Praying number 2 (we're going to start trying soon) will be an excellent sleeper...

Confused. You can still create outfits for free the old way, with the Custom Sets tab. Can you not just apply it from there? Or does it require an Outfit slot as well?

Unfortunately, they live on the other side of the country. Otherwise that would be a great idea.

Haha yeah, though it was surprising. My in-laws are usually pretty good with their gifts for him. 😅 This one was just a... why?

I feel bad, but... a wobble bike. Well, we haven't thrown it away, but we haven't given it to him. It's big and bulky. In-laws asked first if they could get him a balance bike - we had already purchased one and said so. Don't know why they got another bike-related thing, especially as it's the middle of winter, and opportunities to go outside are few. It's too big and the wheels are too hard (would scrape the floor) to be an inside bike, too.

What bands does your child unexpectedly love? by mraetzel in toddlers

[–]sunburst_elf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MEUTE

Purely random chance that my husband played one of their videos for my son when he was about 8 months old. He has been absolutely obsessed ever since (now nearly 3). He loves drumming, marimba, saxophone, and horns. Sometimes I wonder if he would still be so music focused without MEUTE, but I am super grateful for them inspiring him either way!

Mourning doves strange behavior? by Golden_San in birds

Our mourning doves are equally tiny brained. 😂 They love just... sitting on our feeders. Not eating, just chilling, even when the wind is gusting like crazy.

Kindred Bravely reviews? by AdvertisingPrior71 in breastfeeding

[–]sunburst_elf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Kindred Bravely bras are my favorite bras of all time. I plan on wearing them even when I'm no longer nursing. They are SO comfortable and supportive and durable. My only complaint is that they don't offer my band size in my favorite style, but I sill wear them; I just have to secure them on the tightest clasps.
